That's at 119th and ridgeview? Man, if that place was open while I worked at the doorknob factory, i may have never stopped making doorknobs.
This post is strangely fascinating to me. Would you care to elaborate on this doorknob factory?
Gladly.
The year was 2008,
the summer of love. I had just graduated High School.
I got into some legal trouble at the beginning of the Summer (before I had a job), and so my parents were on my ass about getting a job immediately. I struck out on my first round of applications so I decided to work for a warehouse temp agency. I got hired immediately and began working in a telecom warehouse that was moving from shawnee mission to southern olathe. My job there consisted of driving a forklift and shipping the entire contents of a warehouse. That lasted about a month, and then i was transferred to Ingersol Rand, a giant warehouse just south of 119th and Renner (just west of the Benchmark building).
I began work every day at 6 am. My job there consisted of taking doorknobs out of one kind of box and putting them in different, newer looking boxes. I also assembled doorknobs and locks and put them into boxes. I did that for about a month and a half, then it was off to MHK.
It was a great experience for an 18 year old who needed a kick in the ass.
