Letting the states decide could ultimately legalize it but only by script initially. If that happens, pharma wins too.
The downside, politically, would be the loss of enforcement jobs.
That said there is a decent sized group of enforcement that is advocating for this. Says it will save lives and lower crime.
I heard an interview last year with some sgt that belongs to LEAP that said there is on avg 100 lives lost a day in the country due to the illegal trade industry.
I'm not convinced this will cause any loss of enforcement jobs. They can just move their focus to the coke, heroin, crack, etc. enforcement. It will definitely add jobs in the tax enforcement area. You know they will tax the crap out of it to pay for "rehab and education" programs.
Probably right.
LEAP wants everything legalized. That is the point of view that most of their stats come from.
Regardless of the drug you want to discuss, the "war" is failing miserably.
I recognize a diff between pot and meth or heroin, but ultimately it should be your choice when it comes to your body. I mean, there are plenty of things you can ingest to really eff you up that aren't illegal. Why draw that line? Seems controlling and Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!).
Legalize things, then regulate and tax and let citizens figure out their own lives.
