Chicago in three weeks for my birthday! Museum and stuff on Friday. Arlington on Saturday. Staying at Palmer House. Where should we eat down that way? I'd like a nice steakhouse one night and some great pizza another night.

Are the Cubs on the road?
Yep. Arizona.

I would have said Bavette’s for steak, but that is all booked between 4:30-9:30, so unless you want to eat early or late…

Mercy. Popular place. Do you still have capacity restrictions?

Not unless the specific place does (and I haven’t seen that anywhere). Opened up fully a week and a half ago.

There are lots of other great steak places:
Kenzie Chophouse
Gilt Bar (not just steak, but has great steak)
Mastro’s (not local but good)
Gibson’s
RPM Steak

Probably others that I haven’t been to

i never let time restrictions stop me from eating at a restaurant that I want to try.  wouldn’t care if I couldn’t get into that joint until 11, i’d still try it

BTW, those of you offended by my take on steak being overrated, Trim drug me to Gibson's. The meal was fun, the steak may as well come from Outback.

That was when Gooch, me and Brady went there for on BA miles for like 18 hours, right?

Didn’t one of you not get, or try to not get a steak there?

I agree there’s nothing better about steak in Chicago vs. anywhere else necessarily and THAT can be disappointing, but it’s still goood and fun to eat steaks.

The Gibson's steak I had was super peppery. I love steak, so this isn't the take I'm here for, but I agree Gibson's is just ok.

I do think you have to go out of your way to act like you dislike steak though. It's the greatest meat out there by far.

I went to the palm in Chicago around 2003ish (concierge suggested). My girlfriend of course orders her filet rare, I knew this was a mistake for her, but whatever. After she finishes she's got an instant stomachache. Waiting on the bill she runs to the bathroom to throw it all up. The bill was like $300 for the two of us. 21 yr old me was literally

I like steak, a lot, will make one this weekend. The thing about steak is that paying $100 for one isn't a guarantee that you will have one any better than spending $18 on one somewhere else.

Ha, I hadn’t thought of that trip for a while, that was ridiculous. That girl wanting coke from Brady, my Kanye and your Cee-Lo glasses. The dinner part, that was what we bragged up we were flying to Chicago for, was the most boring part of it all.

I don’t love steak. I ate it constantly growing up because it was essentially free and have always been meh on it. I can appreciate a great steak and enjoy it but it’s not my favorite. I irl enjoy a great burger more.
