Hong Kong is going to blow your mind. If you get the chance go over to Kowloon on the ferry - that place is pretty cool, especially the outdoor food markets.

If you go to Singapore better take possession of the Mrs.' credit cards - that place is one giant mall. An expensive mall at that.

Don't know if it is still there but there was a place in Wanchai called "The Wanch" that was a pretty good pub for westerners. Otherwise Wanchai is mostly a red light district.

Have a good trip. It is not what you are expecting, I promise you that - it is much better. You will never forget the trip.

If you are going to Thailand, make sure you try their Klosters beer, it is brewed by German brewers in Thailand and is very good. The food in Thailand is out of this world!

Gold is the new king of the fanningbrag. I don't know if he has earned that. Yellow belts shouldn't be allowed to get away with that crap.

Asia isn't even on my travel radar.  I mean, sure it sounds great, but that is a super long flight.  If I was to take such a flight, I would need the trip to be long enough so that I don't dread the return flight the whole time.

At my office this week they're giving away free airfare for two to anywhere United flies and four free nights in any Hilton hotel.

Where would everyone go? My wife and I are at odds on where we would go if I won them.

What's the longest flight you've ever been on? Because IMO once you hit about five hours you probably won't get any more uncomfortable the rest of the flight.

I look forward to long flights because I never get that much time in a single block without having to do really anything but watch movies or read.

You're freakishly large, though. But economy plus probably wouldn't be too bad for you. Even in standard coach, the jet lag effects would be far worse for you than a few hours of general discomfort. (Which would also be a good reason for a longer trip).

Given your location and length of stay, the best Hilton resort in Latin America or the Caribbean.

Well, 4 nights are free but that's not to say I couldn't/wouldn't pay for a room for more nights.   I would prefer to go to the South Pacific. My wife is thinking more along the lines of the Caribbean.

the tough part will be "that united flies" because that won't include star alliance. On top of paying for a few more nights out of pocket you could explore having United get you to Singapore and then hopping some flight to the Maldives and staying at the Conrad Maldives. Or the same and stay at the Conrad Bali. Or fly to Thailand and hop a flight to Koh Samui and stay at the Conrad Koh Samui. It's expensive as crap to fly and stay in Australia and United flys there. Could do Hilton Sydney. The key will be paying your own way (preferrably with points) to get your moneys worth.

For me it was Dubai to Seattle, via Chinook CH-47 to Abu Dhabi, C-130 to Bahrain, MAC Flight to Philly with stops in Naples, Italy and Shannon, Ireland, then commercial air to Seattle back in '91.

It was a long, but glorious day.
