Denver ppl, going there this week.  Staying at the Magnolia Hotel at 17th and Stout.  What is good stuff to do there during afternoons and evenings?  Preferably walkable.

check out the green russel for drinks.
go see a rockies game.

Agree with both

For food, look at the Larimer Square area which is where the Green Russell is.  Get edibles if you want to get high so you don't have to worry about hotel smoking policies.  Uncle is a short drive and really good food and not expensive.  You could Uber it for like $5 each way.  Sushi Den is absurdly good for sushi in the middle of the US.

thought's on Hal over at charlie's place?

pop into Charlie's place on 14th, right by the old greasy spoon diner.  ask for Hal, he'll make you the best old fashioned you'll ever have in your life.

Has anybody ever done this or "tell them 'clams sent you" type of thing?  I always figure it would end with puzzled looks.

Sushi Den was very good.   Not that pricey ether.  Will need to cab it tho.
We also had a great dinner at Rioja.
Snooze was a little overrated IMHO.

I have heard that tourists are no longer allowed in the Amsterdam hash bars.  You have to score it on the street.

emo i actually haven't been to MSP in months but all the ipads looked like a Delta lounge, and i know LGA has some newer areas like that but you said you were coming back to civilization, which you would never do through LGA. then i remembered all the construction at MSP the last few times i was there.

Ya I already said it's MSP, at least that's what I intended to imply.  It was funny, the techs they had running around servicing the iPads were wearing hard hats.  Que cute!

True

And not going to Amsterdam for the hash. Looks like a pretty cool city and Lady BR wants to see the tulip fields. Going to try and rent a car and drive on the other side of the road in Ireland

Why do you think it looks like a pretty cool city?

my friends and i rented bikes, went to the Heineken brewery, the van Gogh museum, a couple pot establishments, and burger king like 3 times in 3 days (after the pot establishments). mostly just exploring around all the beautiful canal-y streets and stuff is fun.

fun fact:
most old multiple story houses in Holland sort of lean out towards the street at the top, and they have hooks extended out even farther. this is for moving large items into upper floors of buildings because they make their stairs hilariously steep and narrow.

where are you going in Ireland? i recommend getting out of Dublin. it's cool and the Guinness brewery is by far the best and most unique experience i've had at a brewery, and Temple Bar area is fun, but there's a lot more interesting things outside Dublin.
I would recommend going to the west coast and explore Galway and definitely go to the cliffs of Moher. it's like a 3 hour and super cheap bus ride across the country if you don't want to rent a car. You'll see lots of old timey castles and signs in gaelic and whatnot. also there are approximately infinity number of stone fences in every direction. they also have some mini-stonehenge type things on the west side of the country if you're interested in that. drink a lot of beer and eat a lot of fish and potatoes and other cliche ireland-y things. it's a beautiful country.

Everything mentioned is walkable, including Sushi Den. Train to Pearl St. station, walk a couple blocks down. Boom. If there's something that doesn't appear walkable, Bcycle, train or free shuttle will get you there.

Walk up to Highlands for lots of other great restaurants and have cocktails at Williams and Graham or while you eat at Old Major or Linger. Little Man after.

Snooze is delicious but entirely overrated, so is Green Russell.

There are very few bad places and a million awesome ones, basically just walk around and find something that looks good.

Ooh, nice outfit. What is that, Dacron?

Ireland and Amsterdam :tappingfootguy:
In Amsterdam: van Gogh museum is nice, the Heineken brewery tour is more like a history of Heineken tour, it's ok. Anne Frank house isn't a must do unless you really enjoy that, if you've read the book that's pretty much it. The red light district is worth a walk through, but it's much more tame than I thought it would be. I really enjoyed just walking around and looking at all the canals, if there is a canal boat tour that would be a fun way to see the city quickly, I didn't do one, but kind of wish I had. I don't have any food recommendations, have fun!

Snooze brought ERiI, Dr. Jack and MH an order of free strawberry rhubarb pancakes when we were there in April. I thought the place was fantastic.  :dunno:
