Don’t go to Haiti
I have technically been to Haiti about 10 years ago. Royal Caribbean bought some island off the mainland and made their own shitty cruise stop. 2.5 out of 10.

I'm headed to the Dominican Republic, or the "DR" as cool people call it, next week.  Any pro tips besides nonstop eating and boozing?

the beach

Hmmm yes I've been hearing good things about the beach.  Will report back with findings if I make it there.

Don’t go to Haiti

Definitely had not planned to go to that side of the island.

So far we have snorkeling and one of those little trips where you ride a 4 wheeler around in the jungle or whatever.

Probably too late but getting the vip deal for arrival at the airport is fantastic. I've had it save me 2 (very hot and humid) hours in immigration. It also has only saved me like 30 seconds before so it's kinda yolo.

Other tip is get your own private transfer instead of the free bus the hotel will offer. https://dominicanairporttransfers.com/ DAT is who I use.

Bring shitty shoes/clothes for the 4 wheeler trip. Some people did one of those tours on our Puerto Rico trip and it rained. Their sneekies and clothes were basically ruined.

I do a private transfer damn near everywhere we go now.  It is way more convenient than a cab/uber and a lot of them have booze for you in the car.  Also usually isn't a huge additional cost over a cab or uber.

Yeah they can be super muddy and that's part of the fun! Wear water shoes and swim suit/swim shirt and a bandana on your face like an old timey train robber. They have "showers" after to demud so the swim clothes help with drying out and being comfortable on the ride home.

What are the options for someone that has an Unlimited, but refuses to get a paid card to transfer their points? They can really only use the Chase portal right? There is no way to transfer anything to me to book something right? I prob don't want to deal with that anyway, just looking for options. TIA

One of my favorite thing about going to the islands is spending so much time in the saltwater works wonders for my psoriasis. That and jamaican dudes luring me in with handmade necklaces for the kids and then selling me weed.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

The one time I went to Jamaica, the shuttle dude from the airport was like, "Do you smoke?" "Smoke what?" "Bob Marley, man!" And I was too afraid because I thought it was a setup.

I was there a few weeks ago and did one of the dolphin/whale sight seeing tours. No whales, but saw a 10-15 dolphins up close and the kiddos loved it. And, was nice to actually get out on the ocean past the beaches for a bit.
