Any Charleston SC recommendos? Staying downtown Charleston and plan to just tool around and see the sites. Will prob do a beach day or two. Never been, but heard its a pretty fun place.

I've never been but highly recommend any restaurants by Sean Brock.  I believe he's got some in the area if that's your thing.

Husk, Darling Oyster Bar, FIG I remember all being good. I remember little else nor did I think "can't wait to come back". Fine for one trip.

If you like naval history, visit Patriots Point. Isle of Palms was my beach of choice back in the Navy. Always enjoyed shopping at City Market.

Going to Lauderdale next week with the whole family (parents/siblings/nieces/nephews/child).  We rent a giant Airbnb.  Always a fun time.

Baby DQ’s first vacation/plane ride and all that crap.

West side market or whatever it’s called?  Casino downtown.

Yep. Hit up Great Lakes Brewery while over there at the Market.

Big fan of Winking Lizard, Melt, and Slyman's in Independence.

Solon/Bedford Heights has Lizardville. Great bourbon and cigar bar.

Chagrin Falls has some great restaurants and bars. Cool ass little rich folk community.

Cleveland Heights: Voodoo and Bottlehouse breweries.

Westside: Sibling Revelry, Fat Head (probably my favorite), and Angelo's.

After you're done eating and drinking, make sure you visit their park system. It's one of the best in the nation.

Hadn't been to Cleveland in like a decade. It's kinda sad now. Oh well, still had fun. Wish KC had a Westside Market'ish thing.

If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

Charleston Recap:

City was ok. As expected, my kids got bored pretty quick so we started venturing to the beach towns near. I enjoyed most of them. Folly beach was prob my favorite. We didn't get in the water much since the last half of the vacation was resort and beach type stuff. Ate at a couple decent places in Charleston, but nothing was noteworthy. We hit up a "fancy" nacho place and found out the bartender was from KC. He was also gorked out of his skull. My kids ordered some virgin daiquiris and they were horrendous. Since they didn't like them, I went up to the bar and paid him to throw a rum floater in them so Mrs SF and I could take one for the team. Turns, out, he poured Rumplemintz in there and if there is one booze from college that still sticks with me to this day its that. At first I thought he just poured the worst rum ever in there, but Mrs SF said it smelled like peppermint and I knew immediately. Nachos were pretty good though. The city would have been better to travel without kids as there were a few bars and restaurants I would have liked to hit or stay longer, but kids ruin that. Prob should have just stayed at one of the beach towns and skipped the city altogether with the kids, but it was fine.

Second half of the trip we stayed at the Marriott Resort at Myrtle Beach. The resort was better than expected. Pools were pretty good and the beach access was great. I would prob stay there again as the point redemption was decent. As expected, Myrtle Beach is a tourist trap mess so we stayed at the resort a majority of the time. Would not recommend Myrtle Beach itself. We did hit up a baseball game. The Cubs single A team is there and it was a good time. I love minor league baseball though. All in all, it was a good trip. Not on my list of return locations, but it was a fun visit.

Currently trying to plan a week-long family beach vacation for 2024. A 7-bedroom house with a pool on the beach. We did this 4 years on New Smyrna Beach. Now looking at the islands around Charleston/Savanna, Myrtle Beach, & Gulf Shores.

New Smyrna was a fun beach town. Obv depends on what you plan on doing outside of the house. We enjoy checking out the local food and drink scene, but it obv doesn't matter much if you plan on staying at the house and beach.  Folly beach was a fun town near Charleston. We also spent a little bit of time on Sullivan's Island and Mount Pleasant.

If you are a giant person with lots and lots of tattoos and enjoy long wait times for below average food, Myrtle is your destination.

Thinking about Sedona for a few days this fall.  What is the best resort to stay at in the area?

I have stayed or lived in all those areas. I'd do Gulf Shores from that list.

IMO Myrtle Beach is best visited with the bros on a golfing trip. So many courses to play. 830a tee times. Lunch at the clubhouse or back at the beach bar.

I would def go back for this type of trip. Stay at the Marriott resort, golf, eat there, and then back to the resort. Everything else there was a nightmare.
