willies closed and not really the place for this, but old kmart is going to become a sports authority.

Very interesting considering the company filed for bankruptcy in March and is closing all of its stores.

Is this the Old Chicago vacancy?
It said it will be two stories. Makes me think it will either be near the theater or they will have to do significant renovations.

Very true.

I believe there is office space above the old "Old Chicago" site.

Ok, wise guys, what is the optimum number of taps a bar in Manhattan should have?

the taphouse has about a 6-8 too many, imo, to ensure that they are always pouring quality beers. the tap selection should be small but varied, there's only a few places here in town that manage their selection appropriately, imo.

Mae's handles their selection the best, which is one of the reasons you see all of the big guys launching in our territory right now picking them for their tap takeover launch events. The team there actually cares about the experience that their patrons are taking in, which is a HUGE part of it.

Places like Tanner's, Kaws, and Kites, I usually try to avoid ordering draft, unless I'm going to be pounding domestics. They have too many handles for the amount of patrons and tastes of their patrons that drink there. Plus, the only time lines get cleaned at a place like that, are when distributors can take the time to come in and do it for them.

Blue Moose Topeka is pretty good in that respect, they host tap takeovers and beer dinners alot, so I think they've got it figured out.

You guys are being snobby. 50 on tap is fun if they have a good selection. The lease at that building is absolutely ridiculous so it would've been a very select few that would've been able to afford to go into that spot.

I do wonder if they are kicing themselves a little though after the Varney's news.   Blue Moose would kill it in that location.

if you want to drink an ipa that has been on tap for 4 months without a changeover or a line cleaning, go for it. i don't want to spend my money in an establishment that doesn't want to serve me the best quality product that they can. that proliferates our walmart and mcdonalds consumer culture, and it is not my bag. i would love it if everybody else would get on board with that too, but, alas, that is a personal choice.

Blue moose doesn't seem walmart/McDonald'sy  :dunno:

I've never been there tho, but the people in top city love it because it's one of the few non-chain restaurants

That being said, I'm surprised they aren't hitting out west instead of downtown. Aggieville would be a poor location for them imo
