Here's his head coaching resume.  Like oscar, he did well inheriting some talent.  Unlike oscar, he couldn't get a midmajor to the tournament.

Tim Jankovich, good enough for Hall Of Fame head coach Larry Brown, terrible for K-State. Makes perfect sense.

He's been there for one full season, and I don't believe it is a good idea to really put much stock into any coach's first year at a job, no matter how good or how bad it might be.

oscar won a Big 12 championship and then drastically crap himself after using Frank's players. Why would I pay attention to a guy rolling out a ball with a bunch of  former 4*/5*'s and high caliber transfers dominating a shitty league?

If Jank continues to completely dominate at SMU, I will certainly change my mind. It's not like there is some sort of personal reason for not thinking he should be a candidate for the Kansas State job. He probably should actually go out and accomplish something first, though. As it is, his resume says he is a lot more likely to be bad than good.

Well, there actually is a personal reason why he would be unlikely to be hired at KState as long as Jackie Hartman is still so actively involved at KState.

I said he needs to be good in 2017-18, as well, before he would be a viable candidate though. If you think that you can't say that you'd rather have oscar. You nor hardly anyone else would buy in to oscar if we had a good 2017-18.

Also the "more bad than good" on his resume is absurd. He was good at Illinois State, stop trying to strip the context.

That's not true at all. Why did Larry Brown pull him from the Illinois State job if he wasn't impressed with what he did there?

i'd give him credit for better consistency, except for that nasty 237.  he was better than previous, but the upward trend was clearly in place before he arrived.  they've arguably been better since his departure.

i just assumed larry grabbed him because he was a bill self/ku guy who wanted back into the head coach game and the cbb coaching fraternity is a very close and loyal one.  larry, being 900 years old, said come hither and ill hook your punk ass up

Well it shows he did relatively well there so it's whatever I guess.  How was the SMU kenpom this year? Certainly it's average at best because Jank, right?

the valley was a frequent multibid league and isu never made the tournament.  jank's time there wasn't horrible, it also wasn't the sort of record likely to get a coach a high major job.

under jank: 11

if we're shopping for a coach in a couple of years and jank has posted a couple more sub kp30 years, i might feel differently.
