So what's the word on the practice facility? The parking space complainers delaying it or getting it moved?

It's happening. It was on track to be announced this fall but I don't know if they feel like they now need to raise more money because of the increased cost of building materials.

Idea: disassemble the BSFS pieces and sell the raw materials at today’s high value. Pair that money with the raised money and raise a bit more and build a new single complete stadium and complex (named for whoever pays).

I still find it amazing to compare how much (little) was done in the way of facility improvements under Urick/Weiser and then compare that to what's been done under Currie/Mean Gene. From Urick's half-ass football expansion to his utter failure on the baseball stadium to Weiser's half-ass football endzone project - just incredible how bad those two were in this area.

A slight defense is the donor pool they were allowed to get into and they worked for a hyper control freak fball coach who didn’t want to be bothered with major disruptions from construction.   

Specific to Vanier. It wasn’t until Snyder finally realized that Vanier 1.0 was an inefficient cobbled together cluster that he finally caved on a wholesale change out.   

Thankfully Snyder lost a portion of his input power on Vanier 2.0 which would have left multiple small tome elements in play had he gotten his way.  Thus one of the rifts with Currie.  Hate the dude all you want and in many ways he deserves it.  But John Currie being here saved our ass from a facilities perspective.   I cant imagine the small time crap that would have been thought up.  Also a bit of a nod to Capt Kirk who said we can’t haul VIP’s to NBAF past that small time crap we had at the corner of Kimball and College.

That said, Weiser and Urich were small time.

I didn’t get super close to the new SE beer garten because it was all fenced off and appeared to basically be a giant construction zone at the moment. But now in retrospect I’m realizing that while that might not have been all that exciting to me, there was a time on this blog when ConstructoQats argued for pages about whether support beams were fireproof or not, so maybe I should’ve tried to get closer and get some pics for their sakes. My burst, I’ll take a hike and think about how I’m gonna retool my posting to get a little bit better every day.
