I don't think the team accomplished anything under May that they wouldn't have if Matt Miller wasn't the quarterback and I don't think that is a slight on May either. The program didn't really advance from '93-'97 although I think the 1996 team was better than any of the ones before it. I have to question May's program impact if we don't even know if he moved the program forward more than Brian Kavanaugh did two seasons later.

Michael Bishop was, by far, the most impactful quarterback in program history. May made the program a top 25 program, Bishop elevated the program to a national power.

I don’t understand your logic. There’s no Miller if there’s no May. No Bishop either.

How do you figure that? Matt Miller transferred to K-State for the 1993 season Chad May was redshirting when Miller made the decision to come here. I also don't think you can draw a line from May to Bishop without going through Miller and Cavanaugh, they were the QBs when Bishop became aware of K-State and were the guys for the entirety of his recruitment.

Look, I'm not going to sit here and convince anyone that Chad May wasn't better than Cavanaugh or Miller, but I don't have any idea how one could be considered the most impactful QB in program history and the other two not even make the top 10, that doesn't make any sense at all, and if you can't separate those two I don't know how one can claim May is more impactful than Bishop.

Massive props, no sarcasm either, for getting that first bowl win though.

I think Bishop's accomplishments should stand on their own.  :th_twocents:

kavanaugh was garbage

Kavanaugh bailed us out in the Holiday Bowl and his 1 lone season as a starter his numbers were equal to Millers.  I don't get the hate.

Also there is no correllation between May -> Bishop.  Different offensive coordinators and philosophies altogether.  Bishop should be #1 on that list by a mile.

I'd go Bishop too but I'm not terribly outraged at the May pick.

Same, I guess I think it's dumb to do an article about "most impactful." Any Top 10 for the QB position that doesn't have Bish #1 is dumb. Were they going for wow factor or click bait or something?

Cotton Bowl was unforgivable

He was poor on the goal line, no doubt. He also led us to our first major bowl and had the team in position to win the game.
