Got to see the stadium this weekend and the NE screen is bananas. The whole building is much bigger than I anticipated. Very excited for the fall.

What about putting a 2-sided video board up so you can watch the game from the parking lot?

Doubt it. I think they want people to buy tix and go inside, instead of tailgating and staying out in the lots.

so...i saw a video shared on facebook that showed the completed video board. At the base of the board, it says "*Dick & Jane Johnson Family Video Board"

*I don't recall the exact name...but how damn K-State0 is it to have a sign on the rough ridin' video board denoting the above video board as a video board? I mean, what the eff, you guys??!?!?

Carl and Mary Ice Family Video Board. It's a big deal because we have peeps throwing around cash like halloween candy. If making clear where we got the candy keeps the candy coming in, then I'm all for it. Name freaking bathrooms after people if that's what it takes.

But it would be weirder, IMO, without it.  Imagine if it said "Hugh Johnson" below the screen, rather than  "Hugh Johnson Video Board".  Without identifying the object being named, it makes it seem more like an advertisement or something.  If you think about it, it's pretty standard procedure.  "Hugh Johnson Field" on the field, "Hugh Johnson Court" on the court, "Hugh Johnson Family Stadium" on the stadium, etc.

IMO they should make everything in the stadium up for grabs with the right to have your name attached to it if you donate a certain amount.  Obviously I can't get a whole video board named after me but just imagine on a beautiful October afternoon walking up or down the steps in the upper deck keeping yourself nice and steady as you use the Brock Landers Family Handrail.

As meow meow said...yes, there's a huge difference between the field, stadium, and other significant buildings and a freaking video board. Kauffman Stadium = great .... The David Glass Family Dugout = really weird.

Man, stop being such a dummy.  Naming rights is the way of the world in 2015.  like, I just googled naming rights opportunities at Baylor's new stadium and, guess what, the damn bridge leading to the stadium is named the "Sheila and Walter Umphrey Bridge at Baylor Stadium."  Why?  Because they donated a ton of money and can call it whatever the eff they want.  It's not unique to K-State.

Again, bridges are often named. Even highway overpass bridges in some states are dedicated to fallen police officers. It's weird that there's a family name attached to a big TV. Very tacky.

NOTE: It's a little more understandable knowing that the family's name is Ice... that's a pretty rad name and I'd probably want to show it off too.
