In today's world of college athletics, expansion is stupid. Improving existing player and fan amenities is where it is at.
huge difference between expanding for the sake of expanding and what many are doing right now.

brian's point is a salient one
few, if any, stadiums need to expand.

Been watching the webcam all morning. Things look to be going pretty quickly. Any word on if the weather holds like this if we can get the northeast connection put in before the season starts?  :crossfingers:

Do you think we should help lil' brother to the south?  Throw some gold coins their way?
Most poors are suckers for high interest, short term loans. Maybe we offer them the money for the stadium title?

I guess I didn't put enough info into what i was saying.  Adding more seats is stupid, especially if you are at 70-80K already.  Making what you have better and improving locker/weight room/players lounge & cafeteria is a better use of available $$.

So you want to spend a eff ton of $$ on nosebleed/bad view seats that will be the lowest price point that you can sell.  Remind me not to invest in any business you are a part of.

In the United States most net new stadiums are probably not going to be bigger than 70,000 seats.

Oregon isn't having any trouble at 55K seats.

IMO K-State shouldn't look too far beyond 54-55,000 seats.

i kind of agree with you, brian. even though you're drunk.

but adding seats in the NE/NW corners would not be nosebleed/bad view seats, they would actually be better than the SE/SW seats.

My architect brother in law was talking to me about this a little while ago. The trend going forward is to have more intimate stadiums (he referred to Livestrong Stadium where Sporting KC plays as an example) because those high seats are the most expensive to build and have the smallest return on investment. I think keeping a facility at a size that allows for greatest fan noise and is always sold out is more important than getting every fan that wants one a seat in the stadium.

EDIT: Apparently it is Sporting Park. My bad guys. Though if you google "Livestrong Stadium" Sporting park is what pops up.

Demographics play a major role, really. If you are in a state with tons of poor people (the South), it makes more sense to build 100k+ seats and sell the crappy ones for next to nothing. They will come to your stadium in droves, buy concessions, and buy merchandise when they aren't at the game. It helps grow your fanbase and is an investment that goes far beyond the return you get selling the seat for $11 seven times per year.

Wrong again, it is actually the spring home of America's favorite football team the KSU purple cats.
