Based on rumors and stuff that's come out (over the years), the main thing with the SEZ is the connecting the Legends room in Bramlage with BSFS in one large event-type space/club area. I'd imagine that if we actually do close the SEZ, a big chunk of it will be suites/club/event space.
If they add normal seats, it would probably be an extension of the existing upper deck or something like putting an upper deck on top of the SEZ, and if that's the case, we're probably adding 2-4k, max, if that.
I highly doubt this stadium ever holds more than 55k, nor should it.
Iowa State is going to have 61k, but they're going to be selling ten dollar tickets to fill it.
Yeah I definitely don't think we should be expanding significantly anytime soon, I was just wondering how badass it would look if we did.
Just because I like to use my imagination and ponder such things, I kind of think we'll do the East side like they did Kauffman and Arrowhead; they'll take what's there and just build a stone/metal veneer and expand the concourse on the inside and add some concessions on the second floor. I highly, highly, highly doubt we're going to spend a ton of money on that because there's not a lot of net/new revenue to gain from doing that other than to make the place look better. I guess you could make more money charging a higher premium for renovated club seats on the East side, but I have no idea what the price discrepancy is between club/loge in the East/West (or if there is one to begin with).
However, if they do that, and they kind of clean up the East side and move to the south side, you can do one of two things. First, you can try to connect the East and South and make it like a half horseshoe type of deal, but that would probably be expensive. Or, you could cut into Bramlage, and connect it with a free standing type of structure where they basically build one big building between the two venues. If that's the case, it could look pretty sweet.
As others have said, it could look like Mississippi's, but imagine glass in the middle with new suites connected to Bramlage and a small upper deck on top. Obviously, it would be a complex equation of limestone and steel that would really finish things off well.
