Enjoy what, exactly?

2004 and 2005 happened for a reason.

You take away a five star MLB who transferred to his childhood home, and a Ron Prince QB/WR recruit and you have what?

No but Devon Nash, Tanner Wood and Nick Ramirez do.  Those guys didn't commit until what, mid to late fall last year?  + D. Hood Britzen on the D line.  Our secondary is always a hodge podge of rando juco guys that seem to work out.

We'll be fine on D next year.  This year could get ugly on D, but this is a rebuilding year.

It's not liike Brown is the first good LB we've ever had.  You get good players anyway you can.  Sometimes you find a 2 star kid that turns into a stud.  Sometimes you get a juco kid and sometimes you get a former 5 start transfer.  Snyder has had good players pretty consistently over the last 20 years or so the vast majority of them were never rated 5 stars by anybody.

Sure 2004 and 2005 happened for a reason but so did the decade prior to those two years.  It kind of made sense to point to those two years when he first came back but at some point it gets old.  Honestly even then if you objectively look at 04 and 05 we still had some good NFL type of players on those teams.  The problem was mostly we were not filling in the depth and other holes with the quality 2 star type of kids like we have been recently.   That and of course QB recruiting but I don't see that as a problem currently.

I don't think anyone expects us to have sustained DOD success, dax.  The variables at play (softer JUCO academic standards, less people in that pool, less recruiting sites exposing every recruit) make that nearly impossible to recreate.

He's got enough athletes to win 7-9 games a year most years and more if the cards fall right.

What's the definition of "highly touted"?  Highly touted by BCS college football standards, or highly touted by K-State standards?   So if you're using K-State standards Roberson and Sproles were both highly touted with multiple D1 offers.   I consider a Delvin Warmack to by "highly touted" by K-State Standards because he was the KC area POY last year.   Guys like Roberson and Sproles you could look at and see immediate upside.

Take a look at the '98 team, had guys like Bishop had the grades schools would have been lined up down the street to get him, in all proability the same with Darnell McDonald.   Quincy Morgan the subsequent year (he red shirted) would have had schools crawling all over him were it not for his grades.   Ben Leber was a Parade All-American and an Honorable Mention USA Today All-American.   Time and time again, the true difference makers, the stud of the studs are guys who would have been 3 stars and above.   LIke has been mentioned look no further than ArT and Harps, two difference makers.

The K-State fanbase has Colin Klein syndrome.

Then we're going to be royally eff'd then Pan.

Because there's literally no growth at K-State with 7 to 9 win teams.

And the DJamer Wally think tanks keep seeing talent similarly to NFL scouts:
http://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2013/4/28/4278312/nfl-draft-2013-college-conference-recruiting

And before you say "There were more 3*s drafted than 5*s" stop and think for a moment how many more people are rated 3* year in year out.  Stars absolutely matter.  They aren't the only thing that matters but they are the only thing a bunch of message boarders can use to judge talent.  If you want to go with the "Snyder is recruiting him so he must be good" then be my guest.
Terrible logic, there was 140 players drafted that were not 4 or 5. So if you can evaluated at a high level you can still land great players

Of course if evaluate at a high level you can still land quality players.

5 star: approx 2 in 3 get drafted
4 star: approx 1 in 4 get drafted
3 star: approx 1 in 8

I trust snyder's eval as much as anyone's, but clearly stars matter.
Stars are indicators. Not results, results matter. Indicators are nice.

I'll agree with this. Stars are the only indicator we have unless we take the time to personally scout players. Watching 10 out of 200 snaps on a highlight tape and proclaiming stud status is Ridiculous.  I'm not saying there aren't undervalued players, just that I'm not going to say "if Snyder wants a 2 star, he must be good." If we just assume every Snyder class is full of studs, why follow recruiting when you already have your conclusion?
