The class after the title was on of K-State strongest on paper but if you look up and down that list 3/4th of that class was nothing or never showed up. One guy even stole oldballz balls.

False.
Texas Christian University coach Gary Patterson has been hired as Kansas State's 34th football coach, multiple sources have confirmed to GoPowercat.com.  Patterson replaces Ron Prince, who was fired Wednesday. - Tim Fitzgerald   Nov, 7, 2008

Not really.

All things considered, I want highly ranked kids.  Don't get me wrong.  But that 2004 class was atrocious.

What was the lesson?  (a) don’t go after highly regarded/highly rated recruits because the ones we’ll get won’t get here or they won’t “appreciate” Kansas State, OR (b) don’t focus on highly regarded/highly rated recruits for the aforementioned reasons and just focus on lesser rated kids that “want” to be at KSU?

Because basically, most if not all juco kids fits into (a).  I’m fine w/ (b) for highschool kids (however they need to still be 3*’s).  We NEED jucos, specifically on defense.  So either close the deal on them or this program goes back to banking on the binder of the OL/OC at Virginia.  Because quite frankly, I’m not sure that we’ve been doing a good job with the highschoolers in category (b).

Having MJM go to KU is one thing, but if Combs goes as well, then we just rinsed and repeated from the last time we won the championship.  Snyder learned nothing.  The decilne will then begin next year.

Not sure you understand what Snyder learned after that class. Lets just say Snyder is recruiting more heart than stars.

It’s going to end the same.  It’s sad.  He could have changed for the better and chose not to.  If they don’t hit on their jucos, we only win 5 games next year and 4-5 the next year.  People tend to forget how incredibly awful the ’04 and ’05 big 12north was and we were at the bottom of that division.

Herein lies the problem with DITR recruiting and not promising studs pt.  when you recruit marginal football players and are recruiting bodies that you are going to mold into your system, you can't get by on athleticism.

Our 04/05 teams were bad because we had zero athletes.

Our coaches should be using Ark.State recruits as an example for this year's recruits.

we lose our starting LB and ku has all 3 of their returning.  i mean, great job, ksu staff.  great job.

btw, the line to a recruit like MJM isn't "you're going to lose there", the line is "hey, you're a great player, you will probably help them win games there because you are a great player, but you could help us win championships, not just games".

Cause what Weis is telling him is "they are going to tell you that you're going to lose at ku because they're scared that if you come here, with the recruits we're going to bring in, that you're going to help us beat them, and they know that".

I don't think that's what they're saying.  They're telling him they have an NFL staff and that they have NFL contacts and they will get him an NFL contract.

That's what a JUCO guy wants to hear.  He doesn't want to hear about championships.  He wants to hear about PT and a job.  Especially if he wasn't an academic qualifier out of HS.  Because he's either looking at the league or driving a truck after he gets out of KU without a degree.

pan, basically what I'm getting at is that they shouldn't have told him what they apparently did.  and if you can't sell the plethora of DB's that snyder put in the nfl and hayes' nfl experience along with being put on a stage to showcase his talents, which he won't get at KU, then just burn it down.  burn it down.

Seems like this thread has all the requisite ingredients for a steaming pile of crap goEMAW stew:
a bunch of retards trying too hard + unapologetic ignorance + a dearth of worthwhile information

If your post doesn't have something to do with recruiting, post it somewhere else, idiots

I believe MJM could of been a good player here because we are so good at player development, but charlie suck balls at it so I am not all that worried. He better not get into Combs head... that would be a huge blow.

I don't know what they said vs. what KU said, but I'm sure it was something along the lines of, "I coached the Dallas Cowboys," and, "I have Tom Brady's cell phone number."

There were quotes from MJM before the visit that said he was there just to be there.  He had no intent to de-commit from KU.  Whatever message they sent resonated a long time ago, and if you can't tell the difference between 1-11 and 11-1 ... and know how long it takes to get from one extreme to another ... no message you give them is going to make a difference.

I don't know, KU went from the 11-1 extreme to the 1-11 extreme pretty fast...

Well, look at how many Top 25 teams were in our 11-1 vs. their 11-1.

to be clear, I'm melting down about (the possibility of) losing a recruit that we need to KU.  The rest of it is unimportant details that facilitate my meltdown narrative.

I'm confused, was this guy commited to us previously?  I thought he'd been a KU commit for some time.  I don't follow their recruiting very closely...

MJM has always been committed to KU (and apparently our dumbshit staff couldn't convince him to come to KSU).  but Combs is the one I'm melting down about.

Now that MJM has got the "Winning Experience" out of the way, he can now focus on getting a job.
