If Reed flips, I think we're done. I currently have us at around 73-74 on scholarship (depending on Xavier Gates), with 17 departing seniors. If Foketi gets a hardship, we lose 16, meaning if we sign a full 25 in this class, we're pretty much back in the low 80's and possibly pushing 85 depending on how many we sign in this class and the number of off-season transfers.
Knowing that Snyder is always scouring the network for kids that signed and didn't qualify, I'm pretty sure we'll see 22-23 actually sign out of the 26 we have committed, we'll grayshirt a few (C. Jones, J. Jones, Starks?), place one or two (Hood), and over the course of the spring or summer, we may see a couple of transfers or late additions like we did with Darious Thomas, Bo TIllman, Carl Miles, etc.
Also, if Brandon Harold goes back on scholarship, it won't hurt the 25 man limit, but it will count against the 85, and due to the small number of seniors we actually had this year, we're going to eat into that scholarship deficiency pretty good. I'm guessing since Ryan Mueller has been on campus for two years, we'll put him on scholarship now as well since he played a lot and won't count against the 25. We're going to be as close to full strength as we have in years knowing that Snyder likes to hover around 80 so he can get some SEC/Big Ten non-qualifiers and transfers during the spring and summer.
For those scoring at home, should we actually sign all six JUCO players committed, and they get on campus, we'll have room to sign as many as 19 prep players. I'd guess when it's all said and done, we're really looking at 6 JUCO and 15-16 spots with the others going the grayshirt or placement route.
I'd bet that going into Fall camp, we'll have around 80 on scholarship. Depending on who we get to transfer in, we could be at 83 or 84. The 2012 Senior class is pretty large, so it also wouldn't surprise me if we hold a few scholarships back in this class so we have a handful of count back opportunities in the 2013 class to help balance everything out. The 2013 class will probably be heavy JUCO because the actual sophomore class this year is very small, so we're most likely going to supplement them with 8-10 JUCO players in the next class.
