This.

I'm excited about Bender coming in, he is athletic and seems to be pretty You get him and Sams on the field with a decent RB and our Offense could be special and both guys seem to be very EMAW.... :excited:

Listen... Just because we recruit like D3 doesn't mean we are D3.

Hey Manhatter, what do you think about our (K-State football) recruiting.  You seem to be really "plugged in".

What's happening underneath the inpenetrable cone of media silence on this topic.  It seems really quiet and I'm sure we're really blazing the trail for high quality talent, just being stifled by Snyder's cold war era tactics with regard to recruiting information.

Like, I'm sure we're on some awesome JUCO studs.

Thanks in advance for throwing us a frickin bone.

we're definitely in on some studs.  Hawkins visited, Rooks is visiting this weekend.  Marquez Clark is coming the weekend of the 16th.  Clark set national junior college single season records at Navarro this year.  He had nearly 100 catches for over 1,600 yards and 15 TDs.  Huge numbers!  He was a 3A state 100 meter finalist in Texas while in high school so he can scoot.  He's not big...5'11 ish and 180lbs but that doesn't matter.  Put this guy on the field with Lockett and Harper and we get a lot scarier.

good news is that during the Iowa State telecast the announcers were stating that our coaching staff says Kyle Klein compares very well to Jordy Nelson from what they've seen.  Now if you have a 6'4 230lb flex TE out there who can stretch the field vertically....that is pretty significant.
Academics is a stupid word.

Academic schools are synonymous for being rich, powerful and exclusive, three things Kansas State is not.

So when people throw the word "academics" around, that's really what they are referencing.

Hatter do you honestly think that KKlein is comparble to Jordy? Very Wes Welker of you to say that. Jordy weighed what 195 tops in college. Jordy was extremely athletic and able to fight off bump and run coverage corners. Are you suggesting the 6'4 240 KKlein will line out wide and be able to beat a corner? Because that's a very inaccurate statement. I just think you're better than that Hatter.

I was repeating a quote from the announcers who talked to our coaches.

1) Jordy was listed as 220 in college.  He weighed around that at the NFL combine as well.  Obviously you didn't get a good look at how he was put together if you say he was 195.  You should be better than that, Lefty.  And Kyle Klein is listed at 230 at the moment.  It may be a weight they want him to keep and not get bigger.  So forgive me if I find at least a 6'4 230 frame comparable to a 6'3 220 frame.

2) Do I think he's Jordy?  No, I don't.  I think he's like a bigger and less athletic version for beginners.  But he is rumored to be one of our fastest players and as a senior in high school he had over 40 receptions for over 800 yards and 13 TDs.  He obviously was a weapon in high school at that size.  Does that mean he has the same skill sets as Jordy?  Absolutely not...but I'm wondering why our coaches would even hint at throwing his name in the same sentence as Nelson.  He has to be an impressive looking young athlete in practices for such comments.

So, no, I don't think he is Jordy as a wide receiver but as a flex TE it isn't out of the realm of possibility he could be a weapon....again, these were the words of our coaches, not mine.   And I'll add that after watching his bro it may, just may be a precursor into thinking Kyle might be a helluva athlete.  I mean there is something to genetics...ya know?

You should be better than that, Lefty.

in support of Hatter's claims

during spring ball KKlein was running with the defensive ends and looked a little light to play the position but was very impressive.
       - this indicates a physical nature and also mirrors Jordy's early time on defense at K-State

over the summer the staff decided to move KKlein to TE and were pleased with the progress he was making.  it is my understanding that in the week leading up to OU KKlein provided the scout look as Ryan Broyles.  in this role KKein was extremely effective and shredded our d (much like Broyles himself).  as a result of this experience i have heard the staff is considering a move to WR or a flex TE look as hatter indicated.  also there have been rumblings that KKlein is deceptively fast and one of the faster kids on the team.

how he compares to other WR is yet to be determined however having a big athletic physcial receiver who can go over the middle and put pressure on the seams is never a bad thing.

our coaches are also tight lipped unless they are foaming at the mouth about one of our young players.  every time we watch a game of other teams we typically hear these types of comments...that is far less the case with Snyder's staff.  Michael Smith was raving about Tyler Lockett after seeing him in pre-season camp and Snyder couldn't help but comment on him before Tyler took the field.  These are the exceptions and not the norm while Snyder's been at KSU.  Typically when there is smoke there is usually good play afterwards.

They chose to single Kyle out to talk of him with the commentators when they met the week leading up to the game.  the next question would be what caused this to happen and why would the word jordy nelson be brought up?  just sayin.

Well, first of all we don't know if the coaches chose to bring him up or the ISU commentators found his name on the roster and asked about him because they thought it would make a good story.  Secondly, we make a lot of jokes on here about comparing white players to other white players and how it's pretty racist.  The truth is...it is. They have completely different body types and play different positions.  :dubious:

How many Kansas State fans does it take to make popcorn?

Over 100. One to hold the pan, three to shake the stove, one to hide the bong as the police arrive and the rest to complain that they missed the recruiting party.
