I am kind of pissy this morning. That is very spot on.
I just get sick and effing tired of posters who are on auto pilot judgment of recruits based on who offers.
Let me clarify, I actually watch some video and like to think I have some idea of what looks like a good prospect. I loved Travis Britz (based on motor, balance, and some attributes other than pure athleticism) and despised the offer to our current starting Mike LB (I felt he wouldn't be a kid who could make plays in space). In short, I'm not some homer who loves everybody we get. I hate some of the offers. I'm not crazy about some of the kids who are committed in this class.
This Dishon kid, I never stated he is going to turn out to be some great player. Obviously there was some hesitation on our staff's part to offer until now. I'm sure they knew about him. It's also possible they were not aware just how athletic of a kid he was. Maybe, maybe not. Either way, this is a big, strong kid who has DEFINITE D-1 ability. There is no question about it. My best guess is that our staff wasn't entirely crazy about his motor or his film but likely knew about the raw ability.
But make no mistake about it. This kid is a very good athlete in a big body. And he's very powerful.
One last nugget. Per the rivals board, the same individual who posted that k-state offered this kid (which many on their doubted) is saying Baylor offered. I don't know if that is true and maybe they were just very interested in him. Either way, I wouldn't be stunned by that after watching the kid move around.
