yep, a week until signing day, and all these schools just missed on this kid.  interestingly enough, a school of similar size only a few miles away, Hiawatha, had a kid that many schools were able to find not that long ago.  so how did all these schools miss this kid that is 300 lbs and can dunk a basketball with ease and hurdle defenders?  maybe it's because all of these DT's we are currently recruiting don't want to come here so we are panicking and going to the bottom of our list.  maybe, guys like Mo Latimore just really suck at recruiting DT's that have offers at other places (not MIAA offers).

no, i'm sure we just had a diamond fall into our lap yet again.  i'm sure this Dishon kid can even see the field at some point, assuming Snyder coaches until he's 80.  what's the next coach going to do with this roster full of Kansas try hards?

Recruiting strategy 2015...load up on kids from Kansas and Georgia, brilliant.

Bill is just really good at finding star athletes that other coaches don't recruit. There isn't anything he does when they are here to magically turn them into All Big 12 or NFL talent. Ron Prince wasn't screwed by inheriting Jordy Nelson.

I also think that the staff panicked. There's the very real possibility that Reynolds goes to ASU, English goes to TCU, Edwards goes to ISU and Robinson stays with Louisville. Which wouldn't have been a complete loss because we could have always picked up Dishon on signing day...except for the fact that, unlike most kids from bumfuck KS, he was already committed to some directional school. So now we have at least one DT in this class and we'll have to see if that impacts at all what those 4 other guys decide to do.

So, who did we beat out for this kid......Tabor?  :sdeek:  Wonderful......

I am tired of all these great stories about all of our walk-on's from Kansas and their success.  Did anyone notice a difference in athletic ability or speed against UCLA?  What about Oregon?  Ya, our walk-on's really hung tough.  And this guy, with a Bethany offer, is on full ride?  WTF.

I don't know who will die first from old age, Snyder? Mo? Hayes?  JFC, this staff just blows each other.... :flush:

Man, I am in a pissy mood this morning :buh-bye:

BTW, English didn't visit TCU last weekend. English is the one uncommitted prospect I would have circled to commit to the cats.

Meow,

Do you believe in Santa Claus?  I mean you seem to believe every coach in America knows about any kid in the country with talent.  Probably many of the other countries, too.

Nah dude.  If you live in a small-town in a isolated state you still need plenty of proactivity or someone on your behalf needs to be proactive.

THE GODDAMN REASON EVERYBODY KNEW ABOUT THE NEWELL KID FROM HIAWATHA IS BECAUSE HE ATTENDED EVERY GODDAMN CAMP AND COMBINE HE COULD FIND STARTING IN THE 8TH GRADE.

Sorry for the caps.  I figured since this is difficult for people to understand (despite its simplicity) that caps might help.

There was NOTHING on the web for this kid until this recently.  I don't know why?  Perhaps he wasn't 245lbs as an 8th grader like Newell.  That kid would show up as a 13-14 year old running 5.0 40s and benching 185 20x at those combines and then attend every camp he could find.  I knew about him as a freshman or sophomore.  But he was proactive.  Perhaps this Dishon kid wasn't a monster like that at a young age.

You do realize these coaches and their staff have only so much time.  They start relationships with kids they are going to recruit by their sophomore, early junior years...sometimes earlier.  They have a pool of kids and start whittling it down.

Quit being lazy.  Watch the GODDAMN videos he has on the internet now and see if you can pick out the very large kid that moves extremely well.

I really do not give two shits about who offers anybody.  Do NOT care.  That is why I don't freak out and hang from the nut sack of players like Derricott.  The prima donnas who never do anything.  I will let you guys do that.  Watch some film, make your own eval.  Stick your neck out there with some predictions on a kid so someone like you can come back and throw stuff back in your face.  Or, you can just be another cool kid on here and blast everybody we sign simply because they don't have offers from USC, OU, and Texas.
Academics is a stupid word.

Academic schools are synonymous for being rich, powerful and exclusive, three things Kansas State is not.

So when people throw the word "academics" around, that's really what they are referencing.

We should call our recruiting staff Prestige Worldwide, and give them a huge budget to make gifs of prospects running through smoke, fire, ice and steam, and smashing freight trains and mountains and stuff.

This staff left a load of shitty players the last time Snyder called it quits and I don't have to tell you what happened, WATCH THE DAMN VIDEOS!

Snyder might be able to turn these guys into something, but it won't be enough to hang around with elite teams, with elite speed (see Oregon, UCLA, Baylor, etc, etc, etc).  We have 1 commit from Texas/Oklahoma....1.  But sure, lets sign the kids that prefer to not go to camps, those are usually the best.

I am kind of pissy this morning.  That is very spot on.

I just get sick and effing tired of posters who are on auto pilot judgment of recruits based on who offers.

Let me clarify, I actually watch some video and like to think I have some idea of what looks like a good prospect.  I loved Travis Britz (based on motor, balance, and some attributes other than pure athleticism) and despised the offer to our current starting Mike LB (I felt he wouldn't be a kid who could make plays in space).  In short, I'm not some homer who loves everybody we get.  I hate some of the offers.  I'm not crazy about some of the kids who are committed in this class.

This Dishon kid, I never stated he is going to turn out to be some great player.  Obviously there was some hesitation on our staff's part to offer until now.  I'm sure they knew about him.  It's also possible they were not aware just how athletic of a kid he was.  Maybe, maybe not.  Either way, this is a big, strong kid who has DEFINITE D-1 ability.  There is no question about it.  My best guess is that our staff wasn't entirely crazy about his motor or his film but likely knew about the raw ability.

But make no mistake about it.  This kid is a very good athlete in a big body.  And he's very powerful.

One last nugget.  Per the rivals board, the same individual who posted that k-state offered this kid (which many on their doubted) is saying Baylor offered.  I don't know if that is true and maybe they were just very interested in him.  Either way, I wouldn't be stunned by that after watching the kid move around.

Academics is a stupid word.

Academic schools are synonymous for being rich, powerful and exclusive, three things Kansas State is not.

So when people throw the word "academics" around, that's really what they are referencing.

my guess is the "staff" got their hands on the youtube vid of him dunking and Snyder was all "Mo Cox, get over to Horton right now, and no stopping at Golden Eagle"
