I don't think anyone thought he was naive enough to think hiring his son a full-time assistant position was a good idea about a year ago.

exactly.  no major bcs program would've ever given sean the job he has now a year ago.  none....well, except kansas state.

On the WRSOAT front:

There were ZERO visitors in this weekend.  Absolutely amazing.

Texas Christian University coach Gary Patterson has been hired as Kansas State's 34th football coach, multiple sources have confirmed to GoPowercat.com.  Patterson replaces Ron Prince, who was fired Wednesday. - Tim Fitzgerald   Nov, 7, 2008

Bowden and Holtz right off the top of my head employed their sons.  Not sure if Notre Dame and Florida State are major BCS programs, seems like they are.  You seem to be a rough ridin' dolt.

Off the top of my head, some other examples:  Dick/Tony Bennett, Marty/Kurt Shottenheimer, Buddy/Rob/Rex Ryan.  IIRC, Land Kiffin employs his father.

He meant no OTHER program would hire the resume-less kid of some other coach, dumbass.

Point still holds.

LHC Bill Snyder:  Hey Mack, Sean wants to get in the coaching gig, can you give him a job?

Wrong, Bobby Bowden gave resumeless Skip Holtz his first gig, as a favor to Lou

Quote
Due to Skip's lack of success on the field and his desire to remain associated with football, he began to investigate the possibility of becoming a coach. After Skip told Lou he wanted to start coaching, Lou put together a list of potential coaches who would give him the best training. The list included Tom Osborne, Joe Paterno, and Terry Donahue, but upon hearing of Skip's interest, Florida State head coach Bobby Bowden said, "if you can be here in two days, I've got a job for you at Florida State."

At least Sean was successful on the field

They generally had two big ones in December (which we didn't need this year due to early commitments) and two in January.  One big one for JUCOs (which will be 1/20), and one for non-qualifiers that we plan on placing somewhere or late switches (1/27).

I wouldn't be surprised to see at least 3-4 commitments coming out of next weekend, and that's on the low side.  We'll probably finish off the class with the guys coming in next week.

Skip Holtz had just graduated from college and was a GA for Bowden, not a full time assistant. Sean Snyder is 42 in his first season.

Hiring Sean is the most egregious thing Snyder has ever done, and it's not even close.  There's no excuse for it, and everyone should be mad about it.  Snyder probably didn't care if it was a good idea or not.  He's looking out for the future employment of his 42 year old son, who outside of KSU, probably has near zero percent experience working as a post-college professional.

As a fan, it enrages me.  As a father, I kind of get it.  It is what it is.  However, it doesn't really have anything to do with this thread either way.

The outrage over sean moving into that position is stupid.  Sean has basically been on staff since he graduated college.  Throughout the years he worked with kickers and punters.  Also to think that this is some grand scheme to get Sean a head job or lateral job at another university is also laughable.

Also name a dynamic young recruiting special teams coach.  Name any special teams coach.

Why did this have to change?  OB saw the end coming of a six figure income for SS and wanted to bump up his salary as much as possible?

On a staff full of old white guys it is very disheartening when one of the few under 50 do not/cannot recruit

yeah, look at the Arkansas game.

But seriously, that's not fair. The biggest reason to not like the hire is because it could have been filled with someone that has actually gone on the road recruiting before.

Additionally Sean was a big part of the reason we got Burton and was active and seemingly effective with building relationships through the summer camp 7 on 7 circuit.
