Jerome Tang Coaches Kansas State Basketball / Re: We look bad

Too be fair, no team this early in the year is going to look impressive against a juggernaut like Bellarmine.
High BBIQ post, Sprac-ster! :Wha:

Peggy Po's

1. TP2 is a really good shooter
2. Dai Dai is emerging as our lead PG
3. Cam plays great D and can still get to the rack
4. McNair is quality depth in the post

1. Kaluma is a big drop off from KJ
2. No leader on the floor
3. Team defense when our best offensive lineup is in, is atrocious.
I agree with most of this. We look like a bunch of really talented players (dudes) who haven't played together as a structured team (& without assertive leadership) for enough time yet. Coach & the staff need to keep pushing & pruning in developmental ways. Also, there are few leaders on the planet like Markquis Nowell. And, there are even fewer PGs who can do what he does. I suspect Ques coming back - if he is the pure PG that I understand him to be - will be a big help. We will have some frustrating evenings (like the USC game). There will be some flashes of brilliance (Cam's dunk, Dai Dai's razzle & dazzle). I look forward to seeing how we look in late January through March.

Wow! I've heard of golden parachutes before. But this is a golden, diamond encrusted, platinum banded, and lifetime warranty parachute.

Boss Phog
We are going to some toilet bowel.

I think the Boss has some fixation issues. I hope Bean's not permanently injured & that he can completely heal by Saturday at 6 pm. I have a whole (very witty) plan for Stufflebean stuffing Bean jokes. It just won't be the same if it's Sqwuak Howard out there.  :lynchmob:

Kansas State Football / Re: Is KU football still hurting?

I mean, it has to be Harbaugh, right? Oh, they'll WANT Urban, but Urban's too smart for that. Time to search the archives for the Harbaugh to KU threads (complete with photos, if I recall correctly). TSC Baby!

Okay this Saturday you can meet me in Section 17 Row 34 to explain to my 3 year old child what the person on the loud speaker means when they say "F..." and the rest of the word is edited out.
:sdeek: Goodness. What music did they play? Old school gangsta rap? I was not there, nor could I hear through ESPN+, please share a playlist or an approximate description (edited to G-rated, of course!).

I'm not sure who handled it worse:

A)  Kansas State University - Claws's foot

B)  Kansas City Chiefs - Eric Berry's heal
All will be forgiven if the 'Cats, like the Chiefs, make the final four.  :crossfingers:

"Honestly, I've grown to hate so much and so many people since you've left. I can't seem to shake the feeling of being alone, you don't know how bad you hurt me mommy. I know that's selfish but I don't like it here anymore..... I'll see you soon I promise #day68"

:frown: he's not been doing well

cartier's been back for a while, but now he's officially officially back out
:frown:
:frown: Me too! Get well soon, Cartier. On topic: now it's time for Mike to REALLY step up!

He’s all but replaced Diarra at this point.
I want to love Cartier much more than I do, I hope he shakes off this slump.

That said, McGuirl is really stepping up and it's lifting the team. I'm loving his energy right now.

That additional threat to shoot (and drive!) is helping the offense loosen up a little bit too. If we can get this engine hitting on all cylinders vs the rest of the league schedule, we could be dangerous!

We just need Klieman to hire a dream staff full of guys who hate Snyder. Championships will follow. Hate motivation works.
Paging Glenn Mason & Gary Pinkel.  :Wha:

12
DC could be plenty of Klieman friends.  Terry Allen, Bo Pelini, Mark Farley.....Scottie Hazelton (wyoming & USC b4 that)
I'm pretty sure neither of these coaches would be too welcomed in Manhattan - and they probably wouldn't WANT to come live and coach in Manhattan either. Just a hunch.  :dunno:  :ck:

Coach is going to hate oscar. He's going to be merciless to that goofy son of a bitch.
This thought has me feeling a little better. I wish he'd hurry up and get here because oscar needs an adjustment NOW!

Kansas State Football / Re: Sean Snyder - Intern HC
« on: December 10, 2018, 04:19:00 PM »
Sean has been a paid intern for years
Sounds like this is already a winning situation then.
"Intern HC?" Is that kind of like the no HC option that someone else suggested? I'm okay with Sean as an intern (more like special team intern). If we're going to get an Intern HC, I'd rather somebody like Leavitt or even this Klieman dude.

oscar "play in" Weber, rolls off the tongue.
We could hang all of our "First Four" banners!

We couldn't find anyone. So, Sean is going to be interim coach until we do.
This is becoming more and more likely by the moment. Maybe THAT was the strategy all along.

Our seniors kind of suck right now.
You're too kind. It appears our senior guards have forgotten how to play the game. Dean has regressed. It's so frustrating. I think they were overconfident and let their ranking (and 5 - 0 start) go to their heads. There are some nice players (when they play well) on this team. When they ALL slump at the same time, though, they are painful to watch.

I DID A PSD!  But it's the old willie!

I'm old AF and I LOVE these helmets & jerseys. Also, yes pls for the lavender combos (but mainly two-tone, purple + lavender). I nominate _33 for new equipment design guru.  :ksu:

How about just switching quarterbacks?  Michael Bishop as the next football color commentator for the Cats!
Or Ell Roberson, what's he up to nowadays?

A 45 point game in college is pretty much always an anomaly, no matter how good the athlete is or how bad the defense is. We probably would not have won anyway, but certainly no reason to panic yet. I think dropping us to #16 is pretty fair.
Dropping to #16 is VERY kind, IMHO. I think we're more like a borderline top 20 team, but we have much greater potential if all cylinders start hitting in order (see last year's elite 8 appearance as evidence).

Howard alone was worth the price of Saturday's ticket. That kid was amazing to watch. I bet Barry & Co want a rematch to see if they can hold him in a 'fairly' called game. Here's hoping we can get that rematch in the NCAA torn-a-ment.

I know the title says "no GEing," but I can't resist the Memzy part of the title. https://flic.kr/p/5XyacU

Highs: Big XII Championship Game at Arrowhead to defeat "The Greatest Football Team of All Time" WOW! what a game. The first Nebraska win (Holthus' "let my people go" quote was timely and funny). The BLAZIN' MF'ing heat at Arrowhead when we played Iowa (I'll never forgive them for ruining David Allen). The USC games (in LA AND in Manhappiness) - ugly, but exciting! The whole Colin Klein senior season. Lots of bowling. So MANY amazing players and getting to watch them in live action: Locketts (all of them), Buhl, Simoneau, Leber, Pierce, Bishop, Quincy Morgan, Darren Sproles, Ell, etc. etc. etc.

Lows: Lots of bowl losses. The knife to my heart of sitting Ell (and not giving him his bowl ring!). Being on an airplane and unable to watch or follow the 1998 Big XII Championship Game, my utter disbelief talking to my wife on a PAY PHONE (!) from O'Hare to learn that we couldn't hold on to a 4th Quarter Lead. ANY and all losses to Iowa State (I mean, come ON! - especially this most recent 4th qtr meltdown). THE loss to Baylor to knock us out of #1 (I hate Art Briles). The sickening feeling of losing our key assistants to OU after the '98 season. The loss to Fresno State at home.

This truly IS the end of an era. (I hope we don't EF it up this time)  :ksu:  :emawkid:

I'm so sad that I finally get to watch these 'Cats in person and they laid an egg. Our guards all got torched (were they off? is Howard THAT good? a little of both?). Those refs LOVED being a vital part of the game. Even the Marquette fans I was sitting next to wanted them to lay off the whistles and let both sides play.

Dean is back to being timid for some reason. When the guards are struggling, we NEED him to step up. Mawien was our leading scorer. 'Nuff said. Hopefully this game is a wakeup call.

Is Tulsa any good this year? Does it matter? They beat us last year, right? We're on the road. Let's see what this team is made of.  :ksu:

Marquette should be a fun test
I expect to win that contest comfortably
I expected the same, BUT . . . that was painful to watch (in person). Here's my hope: Marquette continues to improve and becomes a "good loss" (by tourney/RPI standards) and their wins continue to bolster our RPI. Hopefully it was a wakeup call to our guards too. They got absolutely embarrassed by Marcus Howard  :horrorsurprise:
