Man KK sur eknows how to get people fired up and listening.  BITrB

Apparently a Vegas book maker said the loss of Joel Embiid only impacts KU spreads by 1-2 points.  Seems off to me, but hey I don't work in Vegas.

But those damn courts were supposed to be legislating today, you lied to me K-S-U.  YOU LIIIIAAAAAARRRRRRR

They're still legislating, dumbass. The Court denied the state's argument that this was a "non-justiciable controversy" and should be left to the legislature. But the silver lining of this ruling for conservtives is that it now appears at least a little more likely that the courts are not going to order a massive hike in education spending.

Every decision a court makes on a piece of legislation is the court "legislating".  I guess if by "legislating" you mean the courts doing their constitutional duty, than yes they are "legislating".

LIBERAL KANSAS JUDGES! :shakesfist:

I know, right? It's just so quintessentially liberal: demand that we spend a crap ton more money but leave it to someone else to figure out how to pay for it.

I mean it is not like the KS constitution has a completely open for interpretation standard of the Legislature providing an adequate education.  It is also not like the Courts are set up to determine the constitutionality of legislation that the Legislature passes, including funding questions when they pertain directly to parts of the state constitution.

No, our constitution has exactly the vague provision you're talking about. And if the legislature slashed the education budget, that might indeed be unreasonable enough that the court would be justified to step in. But when the legislature is already devoting half the budget to education, that might be a good time for the court to exercise a little deference, particularly when it's the legislature, not the court, that is left picking up the pieces of a busted budget. Again, however, liberals do not care about such trivialities. By gum, they're gonna tell the legislature to spend more money and let those jerks figure out how to pay for it! It's not the courts job to balance a budget - only to say that more money must be spent!

I don't think the judicial system works the way you think it works.

I guess Baylor is assuming they are in. (And what's up with this guy calling them "kits"? Come on.)

http://ftw.usatoday.com/2014/03/baylor-ncaa-tournament-sic-em-jerseys-uniforms/

$100 to anyone who can name all of those teams. I think I can get maybe 3.

Notre Dame, Baylor, UCLA, Wisconsin, Michigan, KU, Louisville, Cincinatti, Dayton, Tennessee.

I know you were just being a smart ass, but give me my money.

Not Dayton....

The New Joe Montgomery Birther Pit / Re: Ukraine and The Slav Winter

So Crimea parliment voted to leave Ukraine and rejoin Russia, which now goes to a general public vote.  My question is what happens if the general public votes to leave Ukraine and join Russia?  Can't imagine that Ukraine would just happily give away an area with natural gas resources and access to the black sea.

Can't see KSU getting past 'Zona in this one.  Also, the Shocks can't be happy about getting Okie St. in the second round.

The second quote is better, the first quote is more prescient. It's pretty bad when Sarah Palin has a better read on foreign policy than Obama and his fellow libtards in the government and media.

Honest question here.  What do you think the appropriate response from the US and the world in regards to Russia invading Ukraine?

But even assuming I can't go back in time, I would deliver a very specific behind the scenes ultimatum to Putin to get his troops the eff out if Crimea or freeze all Russian assets in the US, boycott the next G8 in Sochi, and other sanctions. If Putin did not comply, proceed with sanctions and tell the world that you warned him this would happen.

I'm ignoring the going back in time theory because that is a pointless exercise right now.  As far as what you would do with the current situation, I don't disagree with your ideas.  I saw this morning that the US is not attending the G8 in Sochi, there has been talk of sanctions (don't know if those will happen or not), and I have no idea if Putin is getting behind the scenes warnings from Obama (all though I would think there is some communication).

Good to see this yearly stupidity is back.

In all seriousness, this is a major concern for KU's title chances.  Shutting down Embiid for useless games against Tech and WVU is absolutely the right move.  I would say if Embiid still is not 100% keep him shut down for the Big XII tourney as well.  No need to risk anything at this point, the only thing that matters is the NCAA tournament.  Hell you could shut down Embiid for the first round game and I have no worries about KU winning.

All of these laws have to be coming from model legislation that was created by ALEC or CPAC or something, right?

92
I've heard the talking point several times over the past week that the committee will overlook Oklahoma St's losses while Marcus Smart was suspended.  I have also heard a few times in the past several weeks that the committee will definitely consider our loss to Northern Colorado.  Why??  Gipson was hurt when we played them.  No one ever brings that up.  Why does OSU get a pass and we don't?  Is it because Smart is a much bigger part of their overall team?  Or, is it because Northern Colorado is just such a bad loss that not having Gipson available to play should matter?

I would say a combination of the two.

Welp bye bye college kids trying to have some fun.  Stupid basketball players ruining it for all.

Dorks wouldn't make dork threads about KU all the time.

Edit to add: I would wear Red and Blue together a lot more than I already do. Blue is a fave color of mine and though I don't normally wear red I enjoy it when paired with blue.

:shakesfist: KU for making me feel hypocritical sometimes!

This reminds me of when I was young KU fan in elementary school, I would tell my friends who were KSU fans that without KU you couldn't have KSU because red and blue make purple.  Realyl dumb looking back on it, but in elementary school lil GCJayhawker felt pretty boss hurling that insult.

In elementary school I used to tell KU fans that KSU was better because it took two of them(red and blue) to equal one KSU(purple)

I did the same thing

Complete stud response from a KSU fan anytime the color argument comes up.

Would only take an 8/9 seed if we play WSU in the 2nd round.

Can you imagine shockernet if we beat them?

Would validate ENTIRE SEASON. :Purple Koolaid:

I would pulling for the Cardiac Cats so hard in that game.

Jerome Tang Coaches Kansas State Basketball / Re: Flopping
« on: February 25, 2014, 09:54:51 AM »
I'd also like if Smart flopped and drew a foul after no-contact from oscar when oscar runs up on a 3-point-attempt.

Turgeon takes the coaching on the floor thing to a new level and is apparently ready to foul with under 5 seconds left if his players can't get it done.

I watched that happen last night and just laughed.  The NCAA said they were going to focus on sideline demeanor and keeping coaches in the coaching box this year.   :jerk:  That clearly happened.

99
Most definitely.  I will say someday, sadly, the streak will end.  All I can hope in my TSC heart is that it is the Wildcats who break the streak.  If KU can't have the conference crown, why does it have to leave the state?  TSC forever.

Honest question: How does the Syracuse loss to BC stack up against the Kansas loss to TCU?  I mean BC is a completely awful team as well.  I haven't looked at the numbers, but it has to be similar.
