Sounds like that Golf Simulator is starting to pay off
It really has. Very pleased with the whole process.

I bought a membership at a public golf course in MN this summer and it has been great. I can play at anytime, so play a lot on weekday evenings and then try and grab the first tee time of the day on Saturday and Sunday, and if my back is feeling good I will go play again on Saturday or Sunday evening.

I started an official GHIN handicap number for the first time this summer. Started in May as 17.7 have worked down to 14.1 now. I play from the “White” tees, which most dudes my age play from. My handicap is prolly going to go back up to 15 tho.  I had a few super low rounds from the old man tees playing with my father-in-law.  We decided to play it tough and by the book and post the rounds to handicap. I rough ridin' dominated now that my driver is doing what I want it to! Those short distances from the Red’s are rough ridin' fun…pounding (for me) driver and hitting short irons and wedges into greens is a blast. Even with the scoring differential of the tees favored in, I was shooting rounds with a differential of 11, and that is lights out good for a dude with my low-mediocre athleticism

I rough ridin' worship the mygolfspy.com buyers guides on clubs, and played several highly rated  Begginner to mid-handicap “super game improvement” and “game improvement” clubs over the past year getting back into golf. Al different used sets that I picked up.  Cleveland Halos were great for when I needed a ton of help figuring out the low point of my swing. Very forgiving and lots of distance. Very easy to find the sweet spot on these clubs…honestly they felt amazing and I’d still be using them if I had no vanity, but alas I do.

Mizuno hot metal 923 HL were super accurate and forgiving. I like these a lot. I found some Taylormade Stealth’s on marketplace for cheap and I recently switched to these. I do love the feel, and they aren’t better than the Mizuno’s but I hit the Stealth’s 1 club length better with barely adequate height so I decided to go with distance to have 1 less club and added another fairway wood. I go with 6-gap with the stealths.  My son has the Calloway Rougue Max OS and they are easy to launch high and far, I’d be happy playing those as well.

I only carry one specialty wedge. rough ridin' old man style Cleveland smart sole full face. I hit it way better than three other god damn Vokey’s I have tried. It’s money out of the sand because of the enormous sole, and has 14 bounce.  It works well on fluffy lies, but can never use it on a tight lie or I will launch it like a 1 iron.

I now have a ton of rough ridin' fairway woods. Ping 5,7,9 and a Calloway 11 wood. I hit the fairway woods with towering height (for me) and I find them to be just as forgiving as hybrids.

My current driver is the best driver (for me) that I have ever hit. Ping G440 SFT 9 degree.  I am like Tiger woods good with this thing.  I had the earlier version G430 SFT and loved it too but the G440 version is no joke 20 yards longer when I find the center of the face. That’s a super big deal with me…my accuracy on approach shots improves a ton if you give me 20 more yards.

I have a lab putter and liked it, but I tried the mygolfspy top rated mallet putter this year and I rough ridin' love it. It was a $120 rough ridin' Wilson! It’s great I’m very happy with it and lab stays out of my bag.

Okay I'm getting back in this year. I need tall clubs that don't cost a billion dollars, any cheap ones that aren't crap?
You can get any clubs you want and just have them add length and re-grip them at the same time. Edwin Watts is cheapest/best/fastest unless you play at a private club.

Pete is gone so someone else has to help me with golf now. I've been doing much better. I had my clubs regripped and I much prefer the feel so things have been going pretty good on the range......until yesterday. So I was just killing it. Wind was blowing like crazy and i'm still nailing everything. I actually had this thought in my head that this may be the best I've ever consistently hit at a range session. Start with G, then 9, then 7, just crushing it. Got out the 5, hit a couple of decent shots then it all just went to crap. Like, I couldn't hit anything solid and everything just felt uncomfortable again. I started shooting everything to the right. I got out my gap again to try and recalibrate, and was able to hit a couple of ok shots, but I had to leave because I just couldn't hit anything again. My assumption is that I stopped turning my hand over at contact for some reason leaving the face wide open causing the awful contact and me almost killing people to my right. I hate not being able to self correct still. Any pro tips here? Also, make your kids play golf everyone.
When this happens to me, I focus on hitting some short punch shots with a good shoulder turn and no arms. Fixed me right up. My low point feel comes back and my left-right dispersion seems to kinda reset

Playing 18 this morning at Painted Dunes. First time playing here and just in general in a while. Probably shoot a 74 today.
The one in El Paso? How was it?

Which policies would Vance change first? I think he’d back the eff off on tariffs and I think he’d leave Powell alone.

Between having DOGE cuts avoid the legacy defense industry and Israel and Ukraine, Trump has been quite good for defense contractors.

You guys, I think it was a Nazi salute.

Everyone does. Some people just can't be honest with themselves.
I think it can be a Nazi salute and a Roman salute and an autistic thing all at once!

A guy with the worst kind of dirt on some of the most powerful people in the world.  Literally empires of every sort involved,. . . who was in jail and supposedly on suicide watch  round-the-clock ends up dead by suicide.

Yet in Steve Dave simpleton world it’s all just a happy coincidence and there’s nothing to see here.

Particularly knowing that the first time he got a sweetheart hey let’s meet for breakfast and we’ll sort out your whole sex trafficking pedophile thing over some Eggs Benedict and a couple of bloody’s deal . . . Then seal that crap up and in a few months it’ll be BAU.

So according to this admin there is nothing on the edited prison footage, no client list, and Alex Acosta is Labor Secretary
Yep, just how the Libs wanted this to turn out. Gates, Clinton, etc are all now officially out of the woods. YAY!

The mainstream media’s clamor over the possibility of a revolt by republican congressmen is so dumb.

The “big beautiful bill” will pass the house.  Resistance from GOP representatives is performative and merely a thinly veiled last minute request for pork barrel concessions…which they will get and which will also result in even larger deficits.

Trump will command the GOP and they will do his bidding until his last day in office.

It just amazes me that people signed up to work for him again. This is the only result in working for him outside of jail. It has always been this way. Elon will be fine obviously but I can't wait to see who ends up in jail this time though. They (hopefully) won't have the benefit of idiots electing him again and getting pardons.
Everyone gets metaphorically mumped by Trump eventually.  Bassent hasn’t been metaphorically mumped by Trump yet tho.

My bet is that in 5 years we will look back at this time and wish that Isreal and the US kept bombing Iran until there was a regime change.

What a difference a few hours makes. Last night after reading about the cease fire I was like “man, the crazy SOB might have actually done what no one else has been able to do,” but then wake up and those rascals are bombing each other again.

Best case scenario is that the Trump administration gets pissed off at Israel and creates a new “we give zero fucks about ANYONE in the Middle East” policy.

The “toppling” will likely come from within and in a far more grass roots fashion than #neocongE’r Lick has known.

At this point there’s a 75% chance we won’t see a “we came, we saw, he died” interview from Marco Rubio.

Dax, as you know I am nice to you, so I am hoping for a couple of honest answers here…on your spectrum of dislike to like scale (1 being lowest, and 10 being highest) how do you rank both Cruz and Tucker, and on this exchange of theirs which of their two sides of the argument do you favor?

https://www.cnbc.com/2025/06/18/iran-threatens-irreparable-damage-if-us-enters-israel-conflict.html

Quote

Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Wednesday threatened the U.S. with "irreparable damage" if Washington follows through with a military strike against the Middle Eastern country.

"Any American military entry will undoubtedly be met with irreparable damage," Khamenei said, according to NBC News reporting. He added that America's potential involvement in Iran "will 100% backfire" and that "the damage they suffer will be far worse than anything Iran may face. If they enter militarily, they will face harm that they cannot recover from."

What kinds of irreparable damage (if we rule out imaginary) could this dude possibly mean?

Tucker chasing clout, finds Cruz an easy target. Both look pathetic.
We should encourage both to fight each other with an even greater intensity.

What’s the maximum amount you think Israel would pay per bunker buster bomb? We should double that and make Israel pay it.

Per the Wall Street Journal today:

“DUBAI—Iran has been urgently signaling that it seeks an end to hostilities and resumption of talks over its nuclear programs, sending messages to Israel and the U.S. via Arab intermediaries, Middle Eastern and European officials said.”

Guys, it might be true that both Trump and Biden are completely ineffective leaders. It doesn’t have to be an either/or thing, it can be both!

We probably should get actively involved using air support. If we have Iran over the barrel with air superiority, it’s smart to take advantage and remove their ability to recover and respond.

American boots on the ground would be a complete disaster, however.

If the West accepts Israel’s assessment that Iran is comitted to obtaining nuclear weapons and intends to use nuclear weapons against Israel, then the West should pursue a regime change.

If the west does dive in and pursue a regime change, it seems like a good time to short TSMC.
