I would rather live in Austin than Lubbock, I'm guessing that would be one reason.
You obviously haven’t been to Austin lately.

I don't know if we recruited her or not. I do know she committed there over a year ago, so if he's just finding out about this via tweet, I have to wonder how close he is to her.

She plays for KC Power, which is the best club in the country. The team brooke played on had every player receive a D1 scholarship, including one who is coming here. We don't do as well with that club as any of us would like, I think we've had 5 or 6 signings from Power the last decade or so, but those girls all get recruited nationally. They aren't regional recruits we're missing on because we don't know who they are.

You dig yourself a hole with Power if they send their setter to KState & the staff screws her around.  That was 7-8 years ago & still not forgotten.

We've signed players from them in that timeline.
Yes a few, the best being Anna Dixon, a legacy KStater.........

Brooke had a pretty serious injury that sidetracked her recruiting.  You dig yourself a hole with Power if they send their setter to KState & the staff screws her around.  That was 7-8 years ago & still not forgotten.

I haven’t seen her play much defense but I know she can hit from back there which would give them another option.

Can she though? Her height makes me very leery about her ability to hit from the back row. Even if she can, this level of volleyball has players who can absolutely expose anyone who is a defensive liability. You can't be defending with 5 players and expect to win.
Serve receive can be a brutal initiation.  They’ll find you.

I like Carter but it’s very early.  Teams are seeing her for the 1st time.  Film will identify how to defend her & she’ll have to adjust.  I love that her offspeed stuff is already very good.  That’s pretty rare for a frosh.

They should leave Carter in the back row. One of our DS is not good.

Have you seen something to indicate she can dig and pass?
Well it’s not ideal to recruit 3 rotation OH’s.

I only caught the last 2.5 sets, but the block was better than I was expecting (in particular, Archibong looked good). It is WVU, but, baby steps... splitting with ISU last weekend was also a positive sign.
That’s Archibongs game going back to HS.  Hope they can continue to develop her offense, she can bounce it.

West Virginia picked last in the preseason poll, one spot ahead of KState.  It’s a good win because it was on the road & most likely a loss the last couple of years.  I’ve seen Aliyah Carter play a bunch in junior vb.  Undersized but super athletic.  Great to see her get on the court early.  Transfer setter from East Carolina has also played great.

Full disclosure, only watched the one rivals highlight video:

Peggy Po’s: as noted, looks to have great size and speed combo, seems to slither in and out rather than juke which is a good indication of good body control and kinesthetic awareness. Loved how he was able to turn and make catches thrown behind him while barely breaking stride or losing speed.

Neg Nancy’s: His competition is straight trash for Texas so hard to really tell how he compares to better talent. Wish there where camps this summer that we could get some reports out of. Would have liked to seen him go up and high point a little more. There’s a couple clips of him doing it but he doesn’t get a lot of height, but when you’re 6’4” you don’t necessarily need a huge vertical. The flip side of not seeing much juking/sharp change of direction could be poor agility.
He transferred to Colleyville Heritage, not trash.

Well that sure as hell isn’t Heritage in the video so his competition on tape is still straight
216 receiving yards & 3 TD’s in the season opener vs Grapevine for Brennan Hawkins.

Isn't Sterling a twin?  If so, does his twin play?
The twins are younger

It's not just population density, it's being located in Texas.  Additionally, GP has built a network there over 20 years as a head coach.  Kleiman can close some ground there but it's a lot to expect after year one.  I would imagine COVID probably benefits in-state schools as well, but I'm just guessing there.
i get it. i've seen it done here before in the 90s with a very young assistant coaching staff. i understand recruiting is a lot of relationships and networks. that just means we better hire people with a lot of those.
nebraska has a couple young assistants who are getting some of the best recruits from georgia and florida. they had ties there but nebraska was smart to hire them. i'm not sure what strong ties our assistants have? we seem to have a couple that are old and dont necessarily attract young recruits and then a couple more who dont seem to have strong ties to anywhere.

It was an entirely different landscape in the 90's, and snyder was ahead of the curve compared to the rest of college football. College football caught up and we lost our edge. Snyder then failed to take advantage of those gains K-State made.

He didn't like losing 4 & 5 star recruits, so he quit in 2005.  Came back in '09 and made it public that he wasn't going to pursue recruits that didn't buy in.  In other words, he was tried of chasing after top recruits that had lots of offers.  Of course, this lead to failure once more.

Weird definition of failure.

His last year the team was two games below .500, and were absolutely going to be worse. He had a transfer issue and the draft streak ended. After the prince recruits, draft streak, and legacies left (and we started to miss out on plenty of legacies too) the program from 2013-2018 was a slow bleed out.
This^^^^^^^

Yeah bud, pretty safe bet we're going to have players transfer out and in, every program has them, there's hundreds every year. Lexi freaking Sun transferred, nothing is sacred.
I’ve heard there are some comical reasons that are used to gain immediate eligibility.  It’s basically a given now that they don’t have to sit a season.

KU lists only 7 players on their 20-21 roster which indicates they have 6 players transferring?  Wow! I thought this wouldn’t start until after the tourney was compete.  I wonder how many of their players end up at A&M?   I’d bet we get some bad news soon as well.

Season ending 3 set sweep of TT on the road.  Noticed they ran a 6-2.  Too lazy to go back & see when they made that move.  9-19 & 4-12 in conference play.

I think it’s time for a change. They have a decent recruiting class next year. One is in the top 50 and another in the top 100. Maybe they could be ok with another coach.
I wouldn’t pay an ounce of attention to those player rankings outside the top 20.  There’s a local KC kid in the Top 100 that can’t get on the floor for her below average HS team.

Lindsey Gray-Walton inherited a bigger mess at OU 2 years ago after they let a popular long term coach go.  She’s got them rolling.

If you watch both Cats & Hawks play you’ll understand why it’s necessary to offer back row money.  Putrid
