Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

New warning: Don't get in a fight with someone who doesn't even need to bother to buy ink.

Good to have a Bucky on the board.  As a Badger, aren't you supposed to hate Marquette?

I have no problem with this kid....bring him in.

Now that's how you get out a f***ing blood stain.
Maymon visiting today.

fits the Sutton mold.

is he looking to transfer and be here this semester ready to play next year?  or come in next Jan?
When I was a kid growing up in the projects, I used to dream of going into space, of escaping the slums, of killing an Ewok!

My sister in law is a Kstate grad and when I first met her she said she was from Manhattan I was happy it was the good one.Good Luck

Pretty sure he's planning to come this semester.  It wouldn't make sense for him to stay at Marquette now.  Then he could play in January next season.

not really anything like either clemente or kelly's situation.  those were normal transfers driven by being kicked off the team and not getting any minutes.

this dude quit on his team (good team, generally popular coach) after one semester while getting plenty of playing time.

i've also heard that the father doesn't necc. speak for his kid as much as is it might seem from the media.  if that weren't true, i'd see absolutely no reason to bring maymon in.

probably overrated as a hs recruit as well.  unathletic tweener forward.  could develop, but not an immediate impact guy.  would have been better off just keeping anderson.
"these are no longer “games” in the commonly accepted sense of the term. these are free throw shooting contests leavened by the occasional sprint to the other end of the floor."

I don't think the issue is playing time.  His frustration stemmed from not playing his normal position.  He is supposed to play small forward and was asked to play power forward to center.  Can't blame MU for trying to find bodies to patch up some holes, but it's got to be difficult for a kid to accept playing against his skill set.

If the kids father agrees to stay out of Manhattan; it's doable.  But if the father and kid want to go one and done; we're not the right fit.  He's going to be competing against Dom and Jamar in their senior seasons and I don't see Frank going away from veteran leadership.  If he wants to take a year to learn what it takes to be on this team and play few minutes; he could be a great fit.

Kelly was lazy, Clemente was a selfish pothead headcase, Maynon has a helicopter parent.  All issues that can be dealt with.

This guy would be a great get.  You're just being an ass.

If he would have stuck with Marquette and gained big east experience this year he would have started next year when all big east forward Hayward graduated.  His dad has been talking 1 and done for years so he can be all aboard the gravy train but with his size he needs to develop skills that set him apart from other tweeners that are a dime a dozen these days.  His Dad thinks he's Lebron but having watched him play for many years he is not a point forward or sg and doesn't have the handles yet to run an offense or have the offense run through him like his dad says should happen.

I tend to lean towards agreeing w sys on this one.  This kid screams out Micah Downs to me.  (The meddlesome parent thing, not the go to 6 different school thing.)  I told the ku people I know that Downs was gonna be a nightmare and I was right.

I am not the one recruiting him and have never seen him play though.  If the coaches feel like he is a good fit then I am fine with their decision.

If I'm Buzz Williams you must be Roy Williams.  Buzz took one of of our verbals for next year named Vander Blue who was a HS teammate of Maymon.  Maymons dad seems to have a little control over this kid too,  but after Blue signed his LOI Jeronne quit. (nice)  So the Badgers lost out on hometown kid Blue to Buzz and co. but that's the way it goes.  All I'm trying to do is give a heads up on what could happen if you get him.  I offered Buzz a free fire extinguisher because I knew he would get burned.

No doubt there could be issues.

But I also think there are some coaches that are good at getting in transfers and getting them bought in.  Frank seems to be one of those.  Plus, transfers have a little more incentive to try to buy in b/c their next option is going to probably be D2 basketball.  So I think if the coaches want Maymon I'm all for it, plus at last on paper he looks like the type of kid Frank loves to have on his team, all Maymon has to do is look at how Dominique Sutton is used here and see if he wants to have that role.

Yep, his dad said he wants to commit this week though.  He can get a late start on the semester and still squeeze the classes in.  There are always late starting and intersession classes that can get the job done.

Samuels is a great example, too.  He's been encouraged to develop his perimeter skills and has improved quite a bit as a result.

I mean, this guy sounds as Frank Martin-ish (at least on offense) as it gets:

Quote
Maymon is strong, athletic and always plays in attack mode. This physical combination forward finishes above the rim with power in transition. He uses his body well to drive by defenders to score mostly going to his right to get to the rim. Maymon also shoots the mid range...

And that's when he's in a good mood.  Bo Ryan can flat out coach and he will need to do his best now that our pf Leuer snapped his wrist when the Badgers decided to bring Purdue back to earth a little bit last week.  You guys are having a great season so far I hope to see you guys give the other Kansas team a butt whuppin.

Yeah, there is no doubt by looking at Sutton/Samuels that if you develop part of your game, Frank is more than willing to let you use it; see Sam behind the arc or Sutton off the bounce.  As long as you play defense.

We are still big and pasty but we have a kid that has a classic fresh prince flattop.  I thought Beasley was going to kick our butt by himself, we had a guard Hughes step up and score a bunch and that saved us.  He's a senior now and is our best player.  That one and done stuff can be the devil sometimes  the badgers don't have to worry about that because nobody that good wants to come here and play defense first hoops.  Kick some aTm butt

I would say K-State/Martin has developed a "defense first" rep as well.  Jay Bilas says we play harder on defense than anyone in the country.

Its just Martin has a very different philosophy on offense and gives a bit more freedom.  Plus, he's looking to get way more possessions in the game than Ryan.

I think we get about 64 or so pos per game and score 1.12 point per pos. I know we hold other teams in conf. to .89ppp which isn't bad.  We don't have too many turnovers and make the other team play d for at least 20 seconds which is boring to some but watching the other team get tired of chasing through pasty picks  only to have a guy hit a wide open three is a thing of beauty to me.  I have to coach hockey tonight but I'll dvr the game a pop open a cold one and watch some good d later. Good luck!

What makes you say that?  I think it's pretty hard to call someone a failure after one semester of college basketball.
