Pearl Jam / Urge Overkill, Century II. The bootleg recording CD was called "World Jam" and I have it!

Winger / Blackfish, West Bank Stage, first ever T-95 Oz Fest.

Collective Soul, KS Coliseum, also some cheap T-95 promotion.

Spin Doctors / Sponge, Sedgwick County Park. Terrible venue, terrible bands!

Green Day, Cotillion Ballroom

Foo Fighters / Ween, Cotillion. Ween played "The HIV Song" and we were all like, "Who are these guys? "

Bush / Goo Goo Dolls / No Doubt, KS Coliseum. Fun fact: the Goos had to play a rushed set because their lead singer had hiccups or some other ailment.

Smashing Pumpkins, KS Coliseum. The floor had seats because of the Pumpkins' stance against moshing.

Stone Temple Pilots / Cheap Trick, KS Coliseum. The night before my last day of high school!  :excited:

Third Eye Blind / Space Monkeys, Cotillion. Met Stephen Jenkins afterward - he was the worst. I'm still sad that grade-A douche like that got to bang Charlize Theron. The Space Monkeys guy was cool, though.

we were at some of the same shows. Here is my great review:

Concert #2:

Jawbreaker
Ween
Foo Fighters

at the Cotillion Ballroom.  I LOVE the Cotillion.  It is just unbelievably weird.  Like I said, I was a Nirvana dork, so seeing Dave Grohl was like the next best thing since Cobain was dead.

Jawbreaker:  They were some kind of pop/punk thing.  Pretty OK.

Ween:  At the time, I HATED THEM.  It was Gene and Dean Ween on stage with a drum machine.  No band.  They were playing for a bunch of jerkoff kids and knew it.  They didn't give a eff.  I hated them.  I had a discussion with some other 14 year old alt-douchebag about how it wasn't true music because they didn't have a drummer.  Looking back, I now appreciate how rough ridin' brilliant they were.  I would LOVE to see a video of it.

Foo Fighters:  They were really good.  That first Foo Fighters CD is/was an incredible rock album.  I was right in front of Pat Smear.  I kept trying to get him to give me a guitar pick.  He never did.  I had to get out of there before the encore, and he gave a pick to someone right where I was standing during the encore.  :curse:

My dad wore overalls to this one.

I saw Incubus and Hoobastank at the Kansas Colosseum back in 2001.  It may have been 2002.  I don't know; somewhere around there.

Was at this one, i remember the crowd getting pissed because Incubus took so long to setup after Hoobastank's set was over.

Also Weezer/Pete Yorn in the 2001-2002 time.

Most of these are from my high school days.

The first:

No Doubt opening for Goo Goo Dolls and Bush at the Kansas Coliseum.

At this point, No Doubt basically had one hit - "I'm Just a Girl" (and maybe "Spiderwebs").  I was like 14 and Gwen Stefani was not a household name but she was hot to my lame high school kurt cobain wannabe ass.  My dad would take me to these (because I was 14) and he got a kick out of their horn section, who for some reason was never considered part of the real band.

Goo Goo Dolls were next, and they were basically right after "Name" was released to radio.  "Name" was their only song that used an acoustic guitar at that time.  This was what most of their stuff sounded like at the time:    And they were pretty good.

Bush was kind of lame.  They only had one album out and that was all they played from (the one that had Machine Head and Glycerine).  Gavin had nice hair.

More to come.

I was there too, pretty much front row, but back and forth a lil bit because we never had crowd control in those days.   I'm glad arena shows give ya a lil breathing room now.

You're wrong about Bush though. That REM - "One I love" rendition was strong!!
