There is just a link on the amazon kindle site that is labled "free books" or something

I downloaded Uncle Tom's Cabin and The Jungle.  Definitely going to need more info on the Torrents, I really don't want to pay $15 for a 20 year old book about Marcus Dupree.

go to any torrent site and just search for your format.  I found one for my nook that had a list of the top 1001 books to read before you die.

I've been loving my nook color so far.  The web browser had been pretty good (still waiting for flash :curse:) and works with most content, loads fast and keyboard is ok.  Reading has been ok on my eyes so far.  I got my mom a eink nook and like how it works too.  Good screen contrast that looks like paper omg!  Half thinking about rooting my nook but don't want to brick it, plus I'm a pus when it comes to rooting.

I'm going to go get the Nook Color either today or tomorrow.  I'll report back with results.

I don't think it's very easy to brick the color nook.

Currently BBSing from my Nook Color.  Nice piece of machinery.  Basically an Android tablet, but cheaper and with no app market.

Will be continuing to update.

Yes. Won't be enjoyable though. One reason I went with the nook was the color LCD touch screen at the bottom. A lot easier to navigate. Even then, the e-ink screens are annoying to use for stuff other than reading. Color Nook is by far the best browsing.

Can the Nook Color do flash yet?  Would love a tab that could do chat.

Not bad thus far.  Of course, I haven't sat down and done any hard core reading for a long period of time.  You can adjust the brightness and drag it down if it's too much.  I already did that as a precautionary measure.

No flash support yet.  Don't know when that will be available.

well, there's no light involved in the thing so you adjust the brightness just like you would with a normal book.  To change the text/layout hit the AA button on the bottom of the keyboard.

I have yet to charge my kindle and still show half battery.  But, you really can't compare the kindle to the nook color as it's not really an ereader.

Yeah, I know.  You were right about the battery.  Confirming that while there are some cool things about the Nook Color, a week in, the battery life could end up being an annoyance and a reason to strongly consider Kindle.

Also, as mentioned earlier, it is a little heavy.  It hasn't really bothered me yet, but it's not like you can wave the thing around while you drink a cup of coffee.
