I must have missed the apology Dax drafted to Frank and his merry band of right fitters.

Also is he a qualifying risk? This seems too good to be true :frown:

Just spoke with the mother of 7-footer Robert Upshaw. He has, in fact, chosen Kansas State. kansasstate.rivals.com/content.asp?CI…

feels good.

This somehow makes me more :ohno:.

On the other hand, it's incredible that his own mom calls him "Big Rob."

always good to have mom on board.  Ask Tony Mitchell.

Also is he a qualifying risk? This seems too good to be true :frown:

I know he transferred from Edison HS to San Joaquin Memorial HS(both in Fresno) and was not allowed to play all last season(his JR yr) due to transfer rules.

BUT, I have seen nothing to indicate he has or will have qualifying issues.

Welcome Big Rob  :ksu:

Man, I love reading comments like the ones in this link. After the actual benefit of getting good players it is my favorite thing about recruiting

the fact that a 7 footer like upshaw chose kansas state over georgetown or louisville should immediately cause the red button in the ncaa office to go off

it’s just too bad that that red button is sitting in a room that is locked from the outside.

Casually.

So, we are going to sign like 5 or 6 guards in 2013 since we have big men sewn up for the next 3-4yrs?

thinking about it a little more, they'll probably go for a stretch 4 in the '13 class.  though with all the big 3s they have piling up, who knows.

Here's hoping for a bunch of combo guards.

One more thought on Upshaw. First-year assistant Lamont Evans played a pivotal role in his recruitment. That probably deserves to be noted.

well, well, well.

anyone with Insider?? tia

http://insider.espn.go.com/blog/ncbrecruiting/national/post?id=658&action=login&appRedirect=http%3a%2f%2finsider.espn.go.com%2fblog%2fncbrecruiting%2fnational%2fpost%3fid%3d658

Here you go.

Quote
In Robert Upshaw (Fresno, Calif./San Joaquin Memorial), Kansas State has landed a developing and emerging big man who plays with desire -- which is important when you are playing for coach Frank Martin. The intense and energetic coach spends a great deal of time in developing his talent to reach their maximum potential.

"I want Coach Martin to push me so I can be a better player," Upshaw said. "I have been coached that way my whole life. My high school coach Pat Giles coaches that style."

Upshaw, the last remaining center in the ESPNU 100, stands 6-11 but may not be done growing and works on his game daily.

"I work out doing the Mikan drill and the McHale drill to improve my post game inside," he said.

On offense, he is mobile enough to run the court and establish his post position or set a ball screen trailing the action. Upshaw is more than capable of getting offensive rebound tip dunks and second-chance points. He will also be very good at pick-and-roll action as a big target rolling to the rim. Facing the basket, his jumper is solid from 15 to 17 feet and he makes his free throws. Defensively, he will guard the opponent's main low-post scoring threat and block some shots with solid timing on his jumps.

When you add Upshaw, who is just scratching the surface of what he can become, to a front court that already has PF Thomas Gibson and C Adrian Diaz you have a group that will be productive in the paint and help the Wildcats be a contender in the Big 12.
