10K spoons ironically, I just got an email from SPG AMEX to refer other people for both cards even though I don't currently have either.  Refer myself using 2 different emails?

damn, I don't know about referring yourself.  may work?  I don't know if I will get the SPG biz or not.  Right now working on about $10k in spend I have to get through in the next 2 months.

Not sure I can hit the spend requirement on the SPG since I got the 2 citi cards. Hmm..

there are ways to do it.  I've never used them but you can send $1k a month to someone via amazon payments for free.  you could send your wife $1k and she can send it back and you won't pay any fees.  that's an easy extra $2k a month.  rick daris has bought fully refundable SW tickets and waited for the points to credit before refunding the tickets.  that's another option.

First year waived, so who gives a sh1t if I meet it or not. I should be able to with though. Citi is 4 months (will easily hit both), the following 2 months I should be able to get $5000

yeah, but would be a shame to get it an not hit the spend.  would keep you (her) from getting it again soon after.  you can also wait until september or whenever the promo runs and then have her apply.

and don't refer her until later as well.  I think the live referal only lasts a couple week or something.  if you've already sent her a referal you can just send her another one whenever you are ready to apply.

Haven't followed closely on Amex spg situation and need some advice:

Cancelled old card in February been about 15 months since application, haven't done business spg ever.  Do I stand a shot at the 30k bonus on either or should I wait until next year?

You can qualify for signup on both AMEX personal and business at the same time so long as you have NOT had an open account for either in the last 12 months.

amex has apparently changed some of their verbage lately and some people think it's going to go to every year for the hilton amex and some others.

the SPG cards seem to be the first with the "within 12 months" verbage.   Previously it was thought it was a 24mo cycle from application, so this is actually an improvement for churners.

fwiw, I don't think they really enforce a lot of this stuff.  just an imo.  I don't think they know or care if you have a surpass amex and are applying for a citi visa.
