TL;DR, just cancel all of those except the CSP and your work one when the annual fees hit and get the Ink now followed by the Freedom. Then ask me what to do next.

They denied me on the Ink, saying the "business revenue" was too low and unestablished.     And, that they saw I just opened a new personal card (the CSP).

call them and talk to them about it and ask them to reconsider. tell them you need a card to separate your business from your personal expenses for tax reasons. good chance that they will change their minds and approve.

They had me call, and I did, and I guess my made up revenue number for gE wasn't high enough.

hmmmm. they have a reconsideration line. i'd call it.

OK, good advice.  I will try that.

i would also stress that you simply need a mechanism to keep personal and business expenses separate and that's why you are applying for both. maybe wait for sd to weigh in as well.

Yeah, you're not getting the card for gE's business, it's for you and your own business projects.  You, the person, are Pete and your business is Pete.  Pete has a lot of business things going on (gE is one) and you need a card to keep those things separate from your hot tub accessory expenditures*.

*pick a different example if you've categorized the hot tub as gE's newest conference room

The revenue thing is weird. I have had them approve them with very limited revenue (like $1k a month or something) and as a start up operation with zero revenue. They have been assholes about the Ink/CSP/Freedom lately though. Agree with rick daris about calling the reconsideration line. I've usually been able to talk their phone jockey's into doing whatever I want.

Pete, the number is 800-453-9719

Here's a blog post talking about it:

also, if they still shoot you down, don't get discouraged. there are plenty of points/miles in the sea and we'll just tell you what to do next.

maybe try getting the cards for your children, pete.  they have ss#s, so they should be good, i think.  i've thought about getting cards for my dogs, but they don't have ss#s.

Anybody use this SPG Keyless thing? I can get 2,000 bonus points if I use it on my stay in Omaha, but I have other people staying with me who are gonna need a key....so can I use the keyless thing and still get them regular room keys and still get my points?

interesting. I'm not doing it but if you have a ton of spend to hit this seems pretty fail safe.

Also, I'm going to hate the new United dollar-based mileage earning. I have enough miles for silver in 2014 but not enough dollars (and probably won't). My last trip earned me 17122 miles on a $920 ticket, which ain't gonna happen next year. :frown:

I'm flying from SFO to Singapore and am going to get 1900 rough ridin' United miles. eff

$800 one way on discount economy, and I guess I miscalculated because I don't have a United ticket. I'll actually get about 4k miles because discount economy now only accrues half the miles, but still sucks. :frown:

What are you flying back?

I'll hit a couple spots in Asia and fly back PVG-SFO on United. Luckily that flight was more expensive and I'll get about 6800 miles, which is probably more than I would have gotten the old way!

I used to get about double that and my Shanghai flight on this trip is higher than normal.

Got an offer for 30K+ Alaska Air miles with their BofA card.  Any value in Alaska air?  Thoughts?
