hh points are kinda trashy, but you can find value here and there. i may even get that card someday. the mexico city hampton is a good redemption.

Just canceled my sapphire!

The HHonors Surpass AMEX starts you with 80K after $3K in 3 months, but speaking of 60K, I'm at 53,047 HH points right now. My plan is to get that to 60K and then not eff w/them anymore. I can get those points pretty easy at 6x on groceries, and I don't have a card that has any better bonus for that. Then I can divorce HHonors after using those 60K for a viakoffman night somewhere or finding some shitty place that I can use for multiple nights at some round number each that adds up to 60K.

I use Hilton Honors as their hotels are priced right at the top of our $150 a night allowance. Hyatt and other nicer places start above that. eff Choice or Holiday Inn.

So we have Hampton Inn Oceanfront Myrtle Beach booked this summer. Four nights. 120K. Works for us. Guess it depends on your lifestyle and needs. Can usually find good spends around beaches and amusement parks on the weekends.

award wallet takes care of that for me. they shoot me an email everytime I have one that is close to expiring. only downside are the dickhole programs (United, Delta, Southwest) that don't let them track them so you have to manually enter the expiration date in order for them to notify you.

No, they are good as long as you have activity every 24 months.

AAdvantage question... If I'm using miles to purchase a flight will the cost fluctuate? Right now a flight I'm looking at costs 25K, but I'm not 100% locked into plans yet. I need to wait a couple more weeks.
