Do spg points poof if you cancel the amex? It's about that time for me

They do expire though if you don't have activity with SPG for 12 months. I just had mine expire because I last had activity with them in Sept 2013. Went to login to my account and I had to call customer care to "update" my account due to inactivity. I knew the points were expiring in Sept and had been meaning to make a reservation to keep that from happening and completely forgot. They're giving me my 35,000+ points back though. Don't be a dumbass like me.

Funny thing is I went to login to my account because I received a check from Amex for $200 saying that it was "reimbursement for the value of Starwood Starpoints that we were unable to apply to your account." I have no idea why I received this check. The "account ending in" that it says it is for wasn't my SPG card which I got rid of over a year ago and it isn't for any Amex card I have now. It's a JPMorgan Chase Bank check though so I'm blaming (thanking) hackers.

Delta Amex holders also got them. There is some speculation that if you were ever denied the bonus at some prior time you may be now getting this check. Could have to do with their recent once in a lifetime bonus rules and wanting to avoid a class action on previous denials.

So I did the us airways barclaycard a few months ago and bought a few things with it.  Forgot to make my payment till a day before it was due and did so from the golf course. Looked on there a few days later for my points a they hadn't posted, neither had my payment. Now it looks like I paid an annual fee and they aren't giving me any points. Going to take some phone calls to get this figured out.

barclays is nothing but troubles.

but if you had an annual fee posted so fast, you probably applied for an offer where the fee wasn't waived the first year.  the current offer does not waive the fee, don't know what offers they had out a few months back.

can't comment on the payment thing, never used mobile payments.  points can take a while to post.

no? theyll give you the points after your first statement closes. youre going to have to pay the fee to get the points.

weird. i was under the impression that a late payment wouldnt matter for getting your points.

did you already have an account for us air before you got the card? sometimes they open a new account even though you give them your existing one. that happened to me on my american card.

post back when you get it figured out. i have a hard time believing a late payment denied you your points.

no.  read the contract, but i'm almost sure that isn't happening.  if you've paid the annual fee, then the points just haven't hit your account yet.  sometimes it takes a while.  if you haven't paid the fee yet, you'll get the points when you pay it.

Some I'm tempted to go with the Barclays card....am I just being a dumb to not do the Ink?  I've already pushed the limit on # of Chase cards lately is one reason I'm hedging
