and that is what i want, but say for example i get a client in or close to Milwaukee, southwest is my only direct flight option. here's hoping i get a client in LA and just pound that direct Delta flight every week

some people want butt in seat miles. whatever the miles and time are worth to you is most important. you can always fly one off iteneraries.

yes. one time i flew to albuquerque through atlanta because i earned, like, a million miles, and got to read a whole book start to finish

well if you end up with a client in milwaukee i would say absolutely use southwest for every time you go to milwaukee. whatever works best for your particular situation. my travel is all over the place and for the most part i do not have spots i go to more than others, so non-southwest works for me.

it's kind of the opposite, steve dave. like everyone i know goes crazy over southwest and i want to be able to to smush their faces when i'm sitting first class to london in a few years.

I like Southwest because I can abuse their points to fly for free with Lady BR to most of the US for vacations, Cats games, and general fun!

And they have always been good to me with being on time and reliable.  But maybe that's because I have a lucky flying shirt.

also, fun air traffic controller insider tidbit:

SW is really good at being on time. The reason is because their pilots are monitored and compensated on timeliness to a higher degree than other carrier pilots. It's a union job so I don't know how they can do that but they do. anyway, air traffic controllers are pretty positive that if there's ever a runway collision that explodes a couple big birds it's going to be because a SW jet comes in hot to meet their timeliness cutoff. I guess when a window opens up for a runway a SW pilot will just barrel into it pretty hilariously (as far as these things can be hilarious)
