I'm averaging 2-3 free flights a year since I got my Southwest car.

So....what's the expected rate of return if you bust your ass hustling these cards?

Like, $30k annual spend will yield $xx dollars in rewards, discounts, bonuses, miles, etc?

On the BA 100k card alone the last time it was offered I got:

- 4 RT flights from KC to DFW for the Cotton Bowl in Jan 2012
- 3 RT flights from DFW to MHK for a Cats fb game
- 1 RT flight from DFW to ATL
- one-way flight from DFW to OMA to College World Series

Still have 13k left.  Can't wait to do it again!

So assume BA partners with other airlines or you're able to xfer points around?

One and it sucks. Guide me Fellas.

Sign up for all of these:
American Airlines Citi Visa
American Airlines Business Visa
Starwood Amex
Starwood Business Amex
Delta Amex
Delta Business Amex

Use them each once and then cancel all of them except for the Starwood Amex.  Use the Starwood Amex for every purchase you make and pay it off in full each month so you don't pay any interest.  In a year call them and tell them you will cancel unless they waive the annual fee.  Here is a database on what you get and what you have to spend along with links to each:  http://bit.ly/frugal-database  You will end up with a free American Airlines fligh, free Delta flight and anywhere from 2-6 nights at a starwood hotel depending on where you are going.

SD is this still a good list?

Also I saw there is a baller British Airways offer too?
If you are trying to go international get Chase Sapphirre preferred first since you have the freedom.  That way you can transfer those points to good airlines or hotels.

If you are just looking to make all your flights around the US free for you and the spouse I would probably just snag the two SW cards right away and work on that Companion Pass.  Cant do all three of these at once though since they are all through Chase.

I just finished getting 60K on my Chase Southwest, 50k on United, and 50K with Chase Sapphire preffered.  I picked up all of these cards within a short time period and didn't seem to be a problem.  Purchases got me some extra points so that wasn't the offered point total.  Thanks again SD and friends for the helpful advice.

i have a friend who is going overseas on American. he has 50K American miles, his girlfriend has 50K American miles, and i have 50K American miles. he needs to book 2 round trip flights that cost about 120K miles per ticket. when i tried to transfer him my miles, it said it would cost $585. not doing that... aside from booking through my account and buying the remaining 70K AA points, what are the options? transfer to HHonors and then back to his American account?
I think what my friend Mitch is trying to say is that true love is blind.

Oh boy, great credit card'n by my bro rick daris this weekend. Getting declined left and right and back to the left again. I don't follow this thread very much, but when rick daris gives credit card managing advice, I suggest that you do the exact opposite.

his options are to pay for the flight or get a couple AA cards or get some SPG points. lol at your last suggestion. lol right in its face.

SPG is shuffling reward redemptions again. The Sheraton CC Plaza in KC is going from a 3 to a 4. The Sheraton Waikiki and Maui and the Westin Maui are all going from a 5 to a 6. Bunch of other changes. You have two weeks to book at the old rates:

flew delta this week. still not sure which one i am going eventually going to stick with because i have no idea where i'll eventually be traveling regularly (i'll be all over the place in '14), but southwest seems to have way way more direct flights out of kansas city.

southwest is the only airline that does not use the hub-and-spoke method, so yes, southwest has more nonstops from mci.

if you don't want to fly with a (relative) large contingent of herp derp throughout 2014, you will be on an airline that uses hubs.

delta's hubs (all nonstops from mci):
atl
dtw
msp
lga
lax
slc
mem
cvg

they also have the seasonal/weekly nonstops to SEA and MCO.

you know where southwest does not fly? SXM  :kstategrad:

yeah, if you are going to be travelling for work a lot SW would be terrible. status gets you front of the cow line I guess. with other major carriers you will eventually get first class upgrades and lounge access.

and that is what i want, but say for example i get a client in or close to Milwaukee, southwest is my only direct flight option. here's hoping i get a client in LA and just pound that direct Delta flight every week
