Get an Ink

this is what i plan on doing...

As a non traveler/non-business owner, this should make no difference right?

none, make up a business as a sole proprietorship and use your SSN as the FIN.

any ideas on what my business name should be?
I think what my friend Mitch is trying to say is that true love is blind.

So, I've got my 100k Avios, and I'm trying to figure out dates for OAK->, but I can't search to see if it's a saver award (which I would need for all to be free), because only Alaska Air flies this route:

http://themilesprofessor.com/2013/04/23/book-british-airways-avios-alaska-airlines-miles/

Sounds like I have to call? Good grief, is there a better way?

so you're trying to fly Alaska via AA via BA.

Since you posted incomplete route  info, I can't verify, but does the Alaska codeshare flight appear on AA's search?   If so, write down that flight number and call BA.   Tell them you wish to book that route, but it does not appear on BA's search, and you want the phone reservation fee waived.

when searching on AA, you have to check the box that says "search: all carriers"

hmm, I see it now. No idea what I was doing wrong.

How do the miles quoted translate into Avios? Will these two have different redemption rates w/ Avios?

17.5K
        Economy
        MileSAAver Off Peak

    22.5K
        Economy
        MileSAAver

And am I correct in assuming:

37.5K
    Business/First
    MileSAAver*

would cost me in 25k Avios?

yes

*edit*   actually, you know I'm not sure.   I think they will treat it as first class since they don't actually have business class on the flight I assume.  If so, it would be 37.5k

Man I was all encouraged about availability, but I realized I was only looking for one ticket. When you add a family of 4 it's a mind eff of cross-referencing award availability and Alaska Air's prices (which vary as much as $500/RT within a week).

Haven't been diligent here, is it wise to hustle to get a US Airways account, credit card and bonus miles now which will eventually merge with AA miles, and if so, link to the best one?

yes, usair from barclays is the only one i know of.  i think it's only 40k right now, but you can churn fast.

:dunno:

I haven't even signed up for the airline frequent flyer account yet.  There's a promo code field there.  Anyone have a referral or something they want me to use?
