Prince Fielder just took a nacho and ate it from a guy sitting 1st row when he was trying to catch a foul ball.

didn't hear the segment, but i kind of agree with the idea.  royals fans love to lol @ his Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) lineups and dumbass late inning decisions (for good reason).  but they all just want to assume that the successful aspects of the team have nothing to do with him.  i mean i have no idea who really deserves the credit, but they have the league's best era, and they sure as hell don't have the league's best pitching resources.  shields is the only starter that any other mlb team even wanted before the season started, and the bullpen is all low budget homegrown arms and guys that have failed in other roles.  also league's best defense, etc.  play hard, etc.

it's possible that none of that has anything to do with yost.  but it's also entirely possible that he has something to do with it.

Wasn't this the reason we brought in Shields?  He sets the tempo not only in the games he plays, but brings the mentality and structure to practicing.  There's been countless reports and articles about how Shields has doubled the work ethic of the whole pitching staff, set goals, started training earlier in day before coaches were even out there with the whole staff.

We knew Shields was going to be good.  We knew Ervin had talent when he was coming in but didn't know if he could put it together.  Guthrie had pitched well but we didn't know if he could maintain.  None of that was Yost.

We had to replace our batting coaches and bring in a HOF who doesn't like to coach to turn our hitting around.

Head coaches of MLB teams are way overrated, but Ned has gone out of his way to get fired.  In my mind, you can determine how good a coach is by how a team responds.   How well a can team break a long losing streak, a bad hitting stretch, a bad pitching week.

Is that theft? I'd think a guy making his kind of money could afford to eat before the game.

He still played Getz all damn year. He still manages for pitcher wins instead of team wins. He still batted Escobar 2nd over and over. He still pinch hit Pena. He still put in Herrera at a crucial time against a team that owns him. He still let go of Seitzer and brought in hitting coaches who were bad enough that they had to bring in George Brett to save the season. He still used the bunt over and over, even when not necessary. He still is mean to Nate. He still left Guthrie in there last Sunday against any reasonable logic. He still said "We need to hit more homeruns" and we hit less. He still sent Wade Davis out there over and over instead of Chensanity or Will Smith.

Ned Yost is a bad manager. Fire him unless we make the playoffs.

many of those are great points.  i just think it's worth looking at the whole picture.  you probably would gain something, but you might lose a little too.

if i had to sum up my own thoughts, it'd be something like - "i'd be happy if the royals hired someone else, but i don't want yost fired."  like the saying about successful trades.

Fire him even if we do make the playoffs. Yost is not a long term solution. His team wins in spite of his managerial ability.

I didn't even mention Francour being out there over and over and over and over.

Fire him.

I assumed so, which is why it escaped my initial post. Would you retain him Mocat (<--- Good KC Royals fan/bro) if we miss the playoffs? Because I would not. His tactical errors have cost us over and over and over.

most mlb managers are pretty horrible and make questionable decisions. Ned seems to trust his players a little too much.  I guess what i'm saying is...i'd rather not have him be in charge next year, but understand if he is.

Good points all around. The "manage based on his gut" or whatever is really annoying.

Fire him and bring in Mike Scioscia.

Texas Christian University coach Gary Patterson has been hired as Kansas State's 34th football coach, multiple sources have confirmed to GoPowercat.com.  Patterson replaces Ron Prince, who was fired Wednesday. - Tim Fitzgerald   Nov, 7, 2008

I think you could manage multiple teams in multiple sports from your home in Omaha. Kind of like Saban coaching both Alabama and UT, except several more teams. Winning multiple championships in multiple sports around the world...would be great for goEMAW! Would you post more or less? My guess is more due to the increase in insidery informaiton.

Hoffman did win 20 in a row one time when he managed. Just sayin'.

For sure. This could have easily been a 90 win team with a competent manager. Look at what Francona is doing with an inferior team in Cleveland.
