Lots of great stuff today. What did we learn.
1. Kottaras is a productive at bat and an extremely unique guy. He walks a lot but doesn't get many hits and that means his on base is .317 which is 7th of the players that actually play on the Royals. When he does get a hit it has a high probability of being a homerun. 19% of his hits are home runs (Career) . Billy Butler for example is at 10.5% of his hits. I am not advocating Kottaras start but he is a solid guy to bring in once a week to start or to pinch hit (for Moose or Gio in particular.)
2. Lough can play Left Field. Like most good outfielders they can play any position if called upon to do so and Lough is no different. Cain had some nice plays in right as well.
3. Ned Yost sometimes can make the right decisions. Getting Salvador in for a Key at bat in the 8th was very smart and deserves a thumbs up

. Realizing you can put Pinch Runner Johnson in the outfield and get Salvi in was really smart and surprised me.
4. This game gives even more credit to my theory that we could move Gordon back to third if Moose doesn't start to produce.
5. Moose is the only "hole" in the batting order right now but even I would have a hard time benching him because he was .274 BA in June (even though he is anti clutch and only had 3 RBIs and 6 runs with 84 at bats).
