Royals reach $1.3 million deal with Italian shortstop
The Royals opened the international signing season with a bang Tuesday morning by reaching a $1.3 million deal with Marten Gasparini, a 16-year-old Italian shortstop often cited as the best European prospect in history.

http://www.kansascity.com/2013/07/02/4326008/royals-reach-13-million-deal-with.html

Well there's some good news! Hopefully he can play 2nd or 3rd...

Hopefully he can play short.

Escobar is going to be manning SS for the foreseeable future. If this kid is really that badass, he could be ready for the majors in 4 or 5 yrs...  Having an elite 2B prospect would excite me more.
Thinking maybe Dozier could take the 2B eventually if this kid really is that good.

Bases loaded. No outs.  Won't be surprised in the slightest if we can't get one across.

I know Shields didn't do much to help him today, but another W that's not recorded for him.  That 4 or 5 now?

Lots of great stuff today. What did we learn.

1.  Kottaras is a productive at bat and an extremely unique guy. He walks a lot but doesn't get many hits and that means his on base is .317 which is 7th of the players that actually play on the Royals.  When he does get a hit it has a high probability of being a homerun. 19% of his hits are home runs (Career) . Billy Butler for example is at 10.5% of his hits. I am not advocating Kottaras start but he is a solid guy to bring in once a week to start or to pinch hit (for Moose or Gio in particular.)

2. Lough can play Left Field. Like most good outfielders they can play any position if called upon to do so and Lough is no different. Cain had some nice plays in right as well.

3. Ned Yost sometimes can make the right decisions. Getting Salvador in for a Key at bat in the 8th was very smart and deserves a thumbs up . Realizing you can put Pinch Runner Johnson in the outfield and get Salvi in was really smart and surprised me.

4. This game gives even more credit to my theory that we could move Gordon back to third if Moose doesn't start to produce.

5. Moose is the only "hole" in the batting order right now but even I would have a hard time benching him because he was .274 BA in June (even though he is anti clutch and only had 3 RBIs and 6 runs with 84 at bats).

I will shut up when Moose starts to Produce (RBIs or Runs).

Mr. Moose has 15 RBIs this year. That is two more than Francouer, one more than Lough, three more than Getz, and 5 more than Tejada and Kottaras.

NOT ACCEPTABLE

Obviously, it would be nice to have George Brett at 3rd and keep Alex in the outfield. Until we get somebody that is AVERAGE at third we should move Gordon to third.

No offense taken, but I don't care what you think if it doesn't involve the Royals putting the best total lineup together. Tejada's career numbers/age imply that we should probably be working on Dyson, Lough, and Cain. Otherwise I would say Tejada should play third all the time.

Player    At Bats        RBIs       Runs

Moose     243            15         21
Frenchy   183            13         19
Getz       140             12         19
Lough     133            14          15
Johnson  128             9           18
Tejada     77              10          9
Dyson     61              9            12
Kottaras  51              10           7

Maybe try Hos at 3rd, Butler in left, and Gordon at short  with Escobar as the closer.

You should go over to RoyalsReview.com & start talking about RBI totals...I'll be over there in a little bit to watch the response.
