I don't think the Royals goal is to win the Central this year. I think the goal is to be .500, with no additions to the current roster.
Yes, but goals can change. If winning the Central is within reach, then by all means, they should try to do that. God knows how many years it will be before they get another shot at the postseason.

The problem with these brief periods of good baseball is that is completely unsustainable with their pitching staff.
It's funny to see all of this false optimism from the fans, "Just think is weren't horrible in April, we'd be in first place right now". The inherent problem is that for every one of their decent stretches, there will always be a 5 to 7 game losing streak that counteracts their record throughout the season.
This is what the Royals do, and it's not going to change this season now that Duffy is gone for the year and we're throwing a five man rotation out there that consists of oscar Chen and four other louses that shouldn't be collecting a Major League paycheck.
