I feel like Broxton is just teasing everybody right now and his pitching is about to fall off a cliff.

He scares the crap out of me when he's in there with the game on the line.  I think watching that A's game scarred me for life.

His numbers look great, but you're right, that probably won't last much longer.

My hope is he holds it together for another couple months then ship him off to some team for a marginal prospect. My dream is that he holds it together for another couple months and some team desperate for a closer gives up a good prospect.

In 2009 Broxton was 7-2 with 36 saves, and an absurd 0.96 WHIP.  :sdeek: did not realize he had already achieved that kind of season

I decided I was going to go to the Royals game earlier today. I looked up the time of the game and got in my car and drove to KC. As I turned toward the stadium I saw that it was empty and instantly knew that the Royals were playing in Chicago and not KC.

Topeka. It wasn't a terrible drive or anything. Worst part is I flipped a coin to decide if I was going to go the KSU game or the Royals game...

Sounds like he's done for the year, he's expected to need TJ surgery.

Moore has to get Hamels or Grienke in offseason now.  No choice

I hope they grow some balls and go get one of those guys for a pennant race push this season. Why wait until next season?

eff yeah. go royals.
Our Time

Our time to go out and get a couple of quality starting arms. If that means dealing prospects then deal away.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

Why should they go get starting arms to "win the pennant" this year? Not with Cain, Soria, Duffy, Perez all out this year.

I said that sort of tongue-in-cheek, but they are only 4.5 games back. If they are still within 5 games at the All Star break, they really should be making some trades to try to reach the postseason this year.

I don't think the Royals goal is to win the Central this year. I think the goal is to be .500, with no additions to the current roster.

Yes, but goals can change. If winning the Central is within reach, then by all means, they should try to do that. God knows how many years it will be before they get another shot at the postseason.

The goal of competing in the Central is not in range.

The problem with these brief periods of good baseball is that is completely unsustainable with their pitching staff.

It's funny to see all of this false optimism from the fans, "Just think is weren't horrible in April, we'd be in first place right now".  The inherent problem is that for every one of their decent stretches, there will always be a 5 to 7 game losing streak that counteracts their record throughout the season.

This is what the Royals do, and it's not going to change this season now that Duffy is gone for the year and we're throwing a five man rotation out there that consists of oscar Chen and four other louses that shouldn't be collecting a Major League paycheck.

i agree with you. the royals will go on a 6 game losing streak somewhere in the next 20 games, and the last two weeks will end up amounting for nothing.

It's not that the Royals are playing well, so much as that every other team in the Central is just horrible. Slightly better than .500 baseball would be good enough to win the Central, so if the Royals are near .500 at the All Star Break, why not try to bring in a starting pitcher to possibly put them over the edge? The Royals have spent the last 20 years playing for "next year" and next year never comes.

Detroit will wake up at some point and dominate the division.
