that's too easy, i think. the pitchers can almost always get to first before the batter even when they are waiting until the batter hits a ball somewhere (like 1st base), so they'd always win if they start at the same time.

I am a fan. I also feel it doesn't need to be a 3.5 hour affair. I should say I am a Royals fan. I don't want other games.

how about the batter can start running as soon as the pitcher releases the ball, the catcher has to throw to third, who throws to second, then first. if any of the fielders don't catch the ball, or don't tag their bag, the batter gets to advance to that base. if the defense can get it all the way around before the batter gets to first he's out.

the defense has to tell the batter beforehand, so he knows to run and not swing, but the catcher has to crouch like on a normal pitch.

I think the only thing I would seriously change since the technology exists is to get rid of the ump calling balls and strikes.

Everything else is fine with me.
