Sys what will happen to your royals fandom if the royals deal moose?

i don't think it will survive them selling off dyson, so it's probably a moot point.

Soler isn't shitty, good grief. He's a rough ridin' stud who will blossom here.

if he's any good, he can opt out of that contract and into arbitration.  i believe after 2017 (might be after 2018?).  15 million is just what the royals have to pay if he sucks complete ass.
I believe this is incorrect, but contracts are tricky, just like knees.
No, it is correct.

lots of things must seem tricky, you poor thing.
He has 4 years left on his contract, dumbass. He can't opt out after this year. That I know. Read a book.

I'm struggling to understand why the best closer in the game only yields a shitty outfielder in a trade.

prolly because our dumbass gm insisted on getting back a mlb ready player and any team that wants a one year rental closer doesn't want to give up a good mlb ready player that could help them in that same year.

also because everyone's afraid his arm is about to fall off.
"Our dumbass gm" eff sys, take a lap.

most of the reasons have already been covered. trading away a player with one year of club control to get two(+) is nice. trading away a reliever to get an everyday player for a position that needed filled is nice. trading away a player who is most likely on the back side of their prime years for a player who will most likely continue to develop is also a positive. It would have been nice to get another piece in the trade, but I'll take it.

overall, I view it as a sign that the organization is planning to maintain the status quo of competitive baseball.

i'll give credit for the fact that he is scouted as having a very good power tool, and it's possible that he someday develops into a very good hitter.  on the other hand, he has yet to exhibit the ability to be a good player in the majors (and in facets, like defense, it's not likely that he improves).  he's been very slightly over replacement-level.  if you project him in rf instead of dyson (or dyson center, cain right, whatever), the team is worse, not better.

he's basically a lottery ticket.  in terms of lottery tickets, i think they could have gotten ones with better odds.

Soler has had about 40% of the ABs that Hos had from 2014-2016, but in those 3 yrs....
Hos - .432 Slug .338 OBP .770 OPS
Soler - .434 Slug .328 OBP .762 OPS

If he improves as many believe he will, then I think you have to really like the trade.
Even if he opts out and does arbitration for 3 years, he won't be an expensive RF for the 4 year stint.

Stop looking at his partial season stats as a 23 year old, and start watching him play. He's rough ridin' good getting better. He'll be great in the of. He'll hit, and hit with power. Comparing him to Dyson based upon the Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) stat of war is Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!). He's a tremendous improvement over a platoon of/pr.
