Alex and Ben clearly would like to return. More money may influence Ben more than Alex, although that's a we shall see thing.

Looks like Rios is gone unless he's willing to negotiate down. A loss of Rios doesn't particularly bother me if we're willing to give Jarrod a chance in right everyday, or let him and Orlando share that role. That said, throwing money at the RF for a full-time RF position is wasted money. Save that $ for starting pitching.

infante is back, so zobsie would probably play rf, if he were to be retained.  maybe rotate dyson in a little more, but you'd have thought that about this year too and it didn't happen.

Guys, I'd appreciate some help compiling a comprehensive list of all the mind-blowing stats/records the Royals had this year. Here's what I've got so far:
  • Record for most comeback wins in a single postseason after trailing by multiple runs (7 games) and after trailing by at least one run (8 games).
  • Most runs scored in the 7th inning or later in a single postseason (51). The next closest were 2002 Angels (36) and 2009 Yankess (35).
  • First team in history to win 3 World Series games after trailing 8th inning or later.
  • Third team to get a World Series-clinching win by overcoming a two-run deficit in the ninth inning or later.
  • First team to win the World Series with 2 or fewer home runs since the 1950 Yankess.
  • First team to score 5 runs in an extra inning of a World Series game (WS G5).
  • First inside the park home run in the World Series since 1929.
  • Christian Colon is the first player to drive in a clenching world series winning/go-ahead RBI in his first at-bat of the postseason.
  • Raul Mondesi is the first player to make his major league debut in the World Series (#That'sSoRoyals).
  • Ned Yost is the all time leader in Win Pct. by a Manager in the postseason (.710) with a minimum of 20 games.
  • First team in history to beat a Cy Young winner, Rookie of the Year, and League MVP all in the same post-season (Have not verified but I think Gomes is on to something here).
I've said it before and I'll say it again, K-State fans could have beheaded the entire KU team at midcourt, and K-State fans would be celebrating it this morning.  They are the ISIS of Big 12 fanbases.

i think gmdm needs to continue to focus on what's gotten us here, which is to say an endless supply of #1 draft picks.

just kidding.  but our KCMO Royals will be best served spending money developing our own talent from within our own farm system with guys that play the style of baseball we play.  supplement those guys with an endless supply of decent arms in the bullpen that we can develop.

i love gordon but the KCMO royals won't get their money's worth out of signing him to a 5 year deal.  bird poison will command fewer dollars and fewer years.  to me, it makes more sense to sign him and play him in LF.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

I think we've learned from Infante, that when they invested that much $, on that long of a contract, it's a bad idea for a small market team. Now we're sitting on his old balls contract and I love gordo, but that might happen with him down the road too.

I agree. Gordon's best years are behind him, you don't want 20 million tied up in a declining player in 2020.

sure you do, if it means you have a better chance of competing for world championships in 2016 and 2020 before we lose all of our young studs.

I'm not saying Gordo is worth it - but teams routinely give free agents multi-year deals knowing full well they're going to suck ass in the back end of the contract.

It would make a lot more sense to me to go after Upton. We can trade him before the '18 season. He will just be 30 and have a lot of value. Gordon would be 34 and nobody would want his contract. That would be a pretty large setback toward rebuilding.

I would love to have Gordon back, though, for sentimental reasons and because it would give us a great chance to compete for championships in '16 and '17.

because other teams make stupid decisions, the royals should follow suit.

I would like to think Gordon has two or three really good years left. It wouldn't be stupid to secure him if they really think he can continue to be special to the team and the fans. Even with a less-productive year 4 or 5, what we can get out of him until then could be really good. I like that he is part of the organization, and I have been critical of his offensive production at times. I would hope we can keep him and Zobrist...two good ones!

I wish we could trade Infante for a bag of peanuts, so someone will take on his salary. Eff it, tell them we'll pay half of it.

We would have to sign Zobrist first. Otherwise Infante is our best option at 2nd.

Well yeah, that's my thoughts. Even if you don't get Zobs, everyone is so hype on Mondesi and Colon is there for backup.

I see your point. I will check out the videos you posted and reply as soon as I can do that.  I got caught up in the potential turnover on the team, and forgot to celebrate enough.  Lesson learned, man!

The blog has got incredibly dumb the past few pages. Celebrate dorks, there is plenty of time to break down contracts and FA....we just won THE World Series and we have already moved on within the SAME WEEK?
