Bautista did nothing in Games 1 and 2. They are home for 3, the series is FAR from over. 48 hours from now would it surprise anyone if its 2-2? Seems so small timey to be in the biggest moment of your pro career and instead of worrying about your approach vs. Cueto, you're worrying about what some dude said on a channel that hardly anyone watches.

He was really making a case for greatest playoffs villain of all time with the disrespect to umpires and fan ball giveaway fakeout. Wasting time assessing a commentator's opinion during the series is just plain stupid.

I mean, I'm scared, but think about the decisions Ned has made lately, and how they've turned out.

1. Escobar leading off. (He leads the team OBP in the postseason.)
2. Playing Rios (Game winner in Game 5, started the rally in Game 4, big RBI in Game 2 yesterday)
3. Putting Duffy in the pen
4. Leaving Gomes off the roster (I mean, when would he have played?)
5. Playing Sal even though sick before ALDS Game 2 (Homerun, caught well)
6. Pulling Sal after the HBP in Game 4 in Houston (Gore steals 2 bases*, Butera walks in his only plate appearace of the playoffs)
7. Calls for hit and run Saturday with Hosmer on 1st, Morales up (Morales hits easy 6-3 DP except Hos is standing on 2nd)
8. Brings in Hochevar with 2 on Saturday (Hoch mows em down)

I mean, the only bad decision he's had based on results was leaving in Madson in the 7th of Game 4, but somehow we overcame it. I'd start Medlen, but everything Ned touches turns to gold right now. Young probably will go 6 with 1 run, Cain robs a homerun, and somehow we'll get a triple play.

And he's beat the brains out of the nerd "stats" managers  :Woot:

yes, I love his openly mocking of sabermetrics and their dumbass followers. you know what the most advanced stat Ned looks at it? whatever his gut tells him to do. because his gut has more baseball knowing ability and more guts itself than your stupid calculator.

A reason (or reasons) why we start Chris Young Game 4.

Bautista: 1 for 6
Donaldson: 1 for 16
Encarnacion: 1 for 3
Overall Toronto vs Young: 0.194 (12 for 62), 12 strikeouts, 1 home run

What do they say about fly ball pitchers and hitters?

this is all theoretical: fly ball hitters have an "up-swing" because most pitchers try to keep the ball down. when you face a pitcher who doesn't keep the ball down on purpose, you may tend to pop the ball up with your upswing.

Do you think Ned's brain was aware of the stats you posted, or do you think if was his gut?

Ned probably likes Young more since he's looked really good lately, and Medlen has just been ok, imo

Ned mentioned some of those numbers when he announced Young as the starter, but its plausible his gut told him those stats.

How many strikeouts do you think Cueto will throw tonight.  I'm going to say eight but I'm hoping for 20

Attending all these home games in the playoffs makes road games seem weird and dumb #fanningbrag

Still super excited though to watch the Roys showcase their dominance on foreign soil...er, turf.

Up 3-0, does Ned just let Young pitch 5 innings of batting practice and see what the score is at that point? Then, either go for the win (Medlin, Herrera, Davis), or just let Morales come in and throw the last 4 (a loss)?
If there is anything to the fly ball pitcher/hitter, they may hit 15 pop flies in the first 5 innings. If not, they hit 15 home runs. But who would care? Royals would still have a 3-1 lead with starters and bullpen all rested!

It's got to feel great for Alex Rios to be able to clinch a World Series birth in front of a bunch of weirdo fans who boo the crap out of him because he played for their team years ago.
