Guys, what if Johnny Cueto pitches like a complete stud in his second consecutive game?

Maybe, but in the nicest way possible.

Some of us just never lost hope in Johnny.

Cueto will be fine. And win at least 3 postseason games. Probably.

FTR, I predicted 2 no-no's in his last 4 regular season starts. That is certainly not representative of somebody who has given up on him!

Sorry if already discussed, but let's day dream for a moment, since we do not have to actually take the field and focus like real players and coaches...

If we wrap this up in 4, I hope the Cubs make a series out of the NLCS.  I want to have all of our pitchers rested.

If all of our pitchers are rested, who do you WANT to start game 1, and who do you THINK Ned will start?  BONUS QUESTION:  Who does Dayton want to start?

I vote for Cueto!  I think Ned goes with Ventura, and I think Dayton wants Cueto too.

Absolutely. If Cueto is dealing again tonight, he's starting game 1 if we wrap up the ALCS in less than 7. If it goes 7, Cueto will be pitching game 7 and won't be able to start WS game 1 anyway.

It seems like it's not too often that a team that sweeps in one round goes on to beat a team that won in 6 or 7 games in their series.

More important than Game 1 of the WS is Games 3, 4, and 5, which are in NL parks where the pitcher bats.

I hope we hit a crap ton of home runs in the next two games that just barely clear the wall of their illegal stadium.

It seems like it's not too often that a team that sweeps in one round goes on to beat a team that won in 6 or 7 games in their series.
Since it moved to a best of 7 format in '85, teams who swept the LCS are 1-6 in the WS. The only champ was the '95 Braves.

Guess who one of the coaches on the '95 Braves was

What do they say about fly ball pitchers and hitters?

this is all theoretical: fly ball hitters have an "up-swing" because most pitchers try to keep the ball down. when you face a pitcher who doesn't keep the ball down on purpose, you may tend to pop the ball up with your upswing.

it's not theoretical. the opposite tendency platoon is well documented.  it's just a fairly weak effect.  weaker than the opposite handedness platoon effect.  but it's well known.  there's no doubt that yost and everyone else in the royals organization is aware of it.
