As nice as that is, we can stop talking about our division lead. The Central race ended a couple of weeks ago.

This would be a good inning for Guts to not rough ridin' blow.

fortunately, the royals are going to score a lot of runs tonight.  so if guthrie sucks a little, so be it.

Not Roy's, but at Wrigley tonight I saw Daniel Norris (P) hit a home run in what I believe to be his first professional plate appearance.

When is the TV deal up for negotiation?  2019?  I would think we could back load some long term deals with the younger guys and lock them up and once the new TV payday comes it should more than cover them if we maintain success.

I have thought about this TV deal a lot since April. I really think Moore and Glass should approach Fox and tell them they need this team to be competitive to keep backing up that cash truck at the level they've got to be at since last September. Tell them Perez is the backbone of the team, and they should increase the deal through 2019 at a rate that will correspond with salary increases for one to three of the team's core players: Salvy, Hoz, and Gordon/Cain. Tear up Sal's contract and keep him happy, allow Fox to keep a deal that's still below what the Royals should get.
Think Glass could use his pre-2013 spending levels as a viable threat to FoxKC?

Good luck with that. Fox is a for profit company, I doubt the CFO is a Royals fan.

keeping salvy happy should be about priority 25 on their list of salary stuff to worry about.

I know it's unlikely, I just see a parallel in both contracts. And while the deals are what they are, in both cases the two sides are partnering and should want to keep each side happy. I'm not sure if the recently announced St. Louis deal was replacing an agreement that was expiring or if they tore up the old contract because both the Cards and Fox benefitted from a new deal. If it wasn't set to expire, it could be precedent.

perhaps you've confused Fox with a church or charitble organization

Damn, I sure hope the "1st half Moose" comes back soon.

.174 in last 7.5 weeks. 9-49 in August.  We need the Moose to get his confidence back

That's hilarious.

Do you think the Royals will treat the Pérez contract the same way?

yes. giving perez more money is essentially charity. if Salvador gets a new contract, for more money, it better have a bunch of years with team friendly options.

Fair enough. I was more interested in finding an opening to up the cable contract than re-doing Salvy's deal. I can't imagine him being unhappy enough about the contract to wreck team chemistry. Comparing his deal to Ventura's has to be frustrating though.
