this situ reminds me of a thing yost did in the world series that drove me crazy. letting the pitcher bat when it's almost time for him to come out anyways. guthrie had some huge pitch count and isn't pitching very well anyways. at the very best, this is his last inning. there was no reason for him to bat last inning.

Yost isn't managing this game like he would in October. He's trying to get as many innings out of Guts as he possibly can between now and then. He may lose this game and more because of it, but he really doesn't care.

It annoyed me in the WS. But that was because he used roster spots for Gore and Nix, so outside of Billy, there was no one worth a damn to pinch hit anyway. Tonight Ned's just trying to get through the game without reusing the pen
