Starting the home stand 5-1 shouldn't be disappointing. But it is.

He takes out Any starter late when the tying run is at the plate.... So the starter can't lose.

Why change tonight.

This is the strange part. After 2 got on with no outs I was surprised he didn't bring someone in, especially since it was already the 8th.

He got cute. Didn't do what he always does. Last time he got cute and made a bizzare pitching decision... Was Ventura in WC game

Bones...Ned never sticks with a starter too long in 8th. Its 1 runner on, you're gone.

Also Herrera/Holly didn't pitch Mon/Tue... They were rested

I made no distinction about the inning. Ned frequently, but not always, sticks with the starter too long in close games. That he did so in the 8th tonight means we can never say never about Ned and the 8th again.

he's been trying to rest the bullpen, which is smart.  by the time volkie was in trouble, it was already kind of too late.  he'd have had to have herrera warming up to start the inning - which defeats the whole point of trying to rest the bullpen.

if anything, i blame him for bringing in herrera at all when it was his plan to rest him.

I'm not really upset, but if we lose home field by one game I will remember this one first.

that would really suck, but the royals have a pretty solid cushion.  williewatanabe is right, if they manage to lose that cushion, there's going to have been more painful games than this one along the way.

He pitches Herrera 4 of 5 nights.  Now he hasn't pitched in 2 straight games and doesn't want to pitch him for a 3rd straight.  He doesn't seem sure what he wants

Ned just said this on post game...

"I missed up. I have a clear cut rule and I went away from it." "I cost Eddy a win, and us a win"
At least he owned it was his fault

It was the 2nd longest streak since 1914.

The 98-99 Yanks have the longest.  Not sure exactly how many games they had.

We had 243 games (258 with the postseason games)

Damn u Ned.

The streak started after our 6-5 loss in 12 innings at SD on May 5,2014

That game Holly blew save in 9th. We scored 1 in 12th. Collins gave up 2 runs in 12 for loss.

That game is only game in last 27 months where Holly blew a save and we lost.

Ok, so it was 258 total games since our streak started.

We actually had a lead after the 7th in 111 of those games w/o losing

The 98-99 Yanks had 115.

:curse: Sorry, but I love streaks and breaking streaks. 5 more to do it  :Yuck:
