I thought the same thing about Detroit last year.

I don't want anyone other than Volqy pitching game 1, 2, 5, 6.

you may feel differently by the end of september though.  ventura, duffy and medlen have the potential.

2 of those guys can be good game 3, 4 starters then if they show potential.

Last stat I will throw out about Cueto, then I will just play the waiting game on the Royals Mgmt...

I keep talking about how good Cueto is with RISP. Last 1.5 years with no one on base ---
Cueto .198 ave allowed. Kershaw .198 ave allowed
Cueto .248 OBP allowed. Kershaw .241 OBP allowed.

I'm not concerned about "should we leave this guy in to pitch the 7th, even though he has had a good game."  I'm more concerned with " I hope our starter looks great though 5 or 6" and I will trust Ned with our stud bullpen

It's pretty obvious to everyone, if our starter gives up 3-4 runs while pitching 5.0 or getting taken out in the 6th.... Our record isn't that great

good job keeping guthrie in for the 7th, yostsie.  save the arms that matter for the games that matter.

Even though Guthrie isn't all that great, it's games like this where I respect the hell out of him.

I guess this will be Posse stat of the night...

When our starter has an "In-game ERA" or 3.75 or lower, we are 44-9.
So he can give up 2 runs and go just 5.0, but if he gives up 3 runs, he has to go 7.1 Innings
13-29 record when our starter doesn't do this.

We have had 95 starts. 3 of them left via injury so I dismiss those 3 starts (Ventura, Volqy, Vargas 1 each)

74% of the Volqy starts, he has had that "3.75 or lower"
53% for everyone else.  So really that's every other game.
None of the other starters are above 60.0%

BTW, when our starter allows a 2.25 or under "In-game" we are 25-5.
So about the same when between 2.25-3.75 (19-4 record)
3.75 seems like the right number, very similar to us scoring 4 runs

For me, even more proof, lack of consistency outside of Volqy

I hope this series makes them realize they need another arm.

Anybody else notice that the team and MLB websites list Orlando Calixte as playing LF for us tonight?   :dunno:

I was hoping it was a mistake that would be corrected. Showed Calixte (currently at Omaha) for a couple of hours. Made no sense, since he's a  shortstop.

This has been a lazy series so far for both teams. Bad baseball all around.

Its a good thing. Cause thru 4 1/3 games vs Hou, we have a whopping 6 runs.

Feldman is not good. Got to quit hitting into DPs and get to him in the 4th-6th

i think they are just smarter at defensive positioning than most teams.

They are, but there's still a lot of luck involved with 3 line drives in a row being outs.
