iirc, no team has ever had all the positional players start as all stars.  so if the royals, do, they'll officially be the best team in baseball history.

that's worth 10 minutes of your time.

Good to see b2b Ws. I'm ready for some more runs.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

Having your four and five get you a pair of wins, when you've been struggling and the bats are cold, is just what the doctor ordered. I'm feeling optimistic that the bats will get hot again.

Posse Stat of the night ....

Jason Vargas, giving up 2 ERs or less yet again.    In 41 starts as a Royal (counts postseason) he has given up 2 ERs or less in 27 of them.  That is pretty impressive.  Only 1 of them was a short outing (that 4.0 inning one where he was on a pitch count this year)

For comparison =

** Shields was known for throwing more innings, so I use 3 ERs or less for him.   In 2013 and 2014 (postseason too), James had 56 of his 73 starts with 3 ERs or less.  His ERA in those 56 starts was 2.05

Vargas 27 of 41 starts(65.9%) with 2 ER or less.   ERA 1.84 in those 27 starts (6.50 Inn per start)
Shields 56 of 73 starts (76.7%) with 3 ER or less.  ERA 2.05 in those 56 starts (6.90 Inn per start)

Hey guys, Vargas is a pretty decent starting pitcher and has done a pretty good job for us since signing last year.

Yeah, it was a little deceiving that his worst string of starts came late last year and the beginning of this year. Made it seem like he got old quick, which would have been weird for a soft tossing lefty.

You guys, Kris Medlen and I almost have the same birthday. Regardless, should I be excited for him? Because riddle me this, does Ventura, Volquez, Medlen, Vargas, Guthrie get you excited? WHAT IF YOU THROW A HEALTHY DUFFY INTO THE MIX!?!?!!?
